Chapter 1315
Estella, still distraught, nearly wept at the sight of Sonya. Roxanne quickly embraced her, then addressed Sonya. “Mrs. Farwell, please don’t upset her; Essie’s still very fragile emotionally.”
Lucian approached, frowning. He’d expected his mother to have learned her lesson after her treatment of Aubree, but instead, Sonya had sought out Roxanne. “I’m just worried about my granddaughter,” Sonya said, her words tinged with displeasure. “How is this upsetting her?”
Reaching for Estella, Sonya attempted to take her from Roxanne. “Come here, Essie. Let me see if you’re hurt.”
Panicked, Estella clung to Roxanne. “Ahh! I want Mommy! I don’t want Grandma! No!”
Sonya’s scowl deepened at Estella’s words. “Don’t call her that! She’s not your mother!”
Lucian, witnessing the scene, intervened. “Mom, why are you doing this to Essie? Haven’t Aubree’s words had any impact on you?”
Sonya stammered, “I’m just worried about Essie.”
Lucian rubbed his temples. “Really? If you cared, you wouldn’t keep pushing her toward Aubree.” Estella had suffered greatly over the past five years because of Sonya’s favoritism.
Sonya was speechless. She looked at Estella remorsefully. “I’m sorry, Essie. I want to make it up to you.” Then, her gaze shifted to Roxanne. “I can avoid touching Essie, but Roxanne must leave the Farwell residence. Nothing good has happened since she arrived. She’ll only be satisfied when she’s caused chaos.”
Estella’s tears renewed at Sonya’s words. “I want Mommy! Don’t leave, Mommy!”
Roxanne, moved and pained, saw Estella’s protectiveness. Sonya, however, remained furious. “Don’t think you can be Lucian’s wife just because Essie calls you Mommy. Many women desire this position. Aubree’s gone, but another will come. It will never be you.”
Roxanne ignored her, comforting Estella. Lucian stepped between them. “Only she can be my wife! If you disagree, I’ll gladly relinquish my position as CEO of Farwell Group!”
Both Sonya and Roxanne were stunned. Sonya knew Lucian’s affection for Roxanne, but she hadn’t anticipated this. Roxanne, equally shocked, had never imagined Lucian would go to such lengths for her.
