Chapter 1319

Roxanne worried Estella might be upset that Lucian wasn't joining them for dinner. To her surprise, Estella happily ate, seemingly unconcerned by his absence. Roxanne's heart ached at the sight. Was Lucian so busy he barely had time for his daughter? This likely explained Estella's slow recovery.

Roxanne was about to take the children upstairs when Catalina entered, announcing, "Mr. Farwell is waiting for you in the back garden, Ms. Jarvis." Catalina, having witnessed the afternoon's events, almost called Roxanne "Mrs. Farwell" but hesitated, guessing it would be uncomfortable.

Roxanne paused, looking at the children. What did Lucian want? Should she bring the children?

"We want to go too, Mommy!" Benny exclaimed, tugging at her arm.

"I want to go too, Aunt Roxanne!" Estella chimed in.

Archie, though silent, conveyed his desire with a look. Unable to refuse, Roxanne asked Catalina, "He didn't mention bringing the children, did he?"

Catalina shook her head, considered it, stepped aside, and let them pass. Roxanne held Benny and Estella's hands; Archie walked ahead.

The four walked toward the darkened garden. Roxanne frowned, confused. Lucian was supposed to be waiting. "Lucian?" she called.

A moment later, the garden burst into light. Roxanne gasped, seeing the traditional medicinal plants. Noble dendrobium, jasmine, golden-and-silver honeysuckleโ€”she recognized nearly every plant. They weren't expensive, but vital ingredients in traditional medicine. Their presence in the Farwell garden astounded her.

What was Lucian doing?

"This garden was filled with expensive roses and peonies, but you disliked them. So I had them replaced with these medicinal plants," Lucian explained, appearing from a path.

Roxanne felt intensely nervous, even considering fleeing. The children, sensing this, held her firmly. She could only watch as Lucian approached.

He gazed at her affectionately. "I caused you much suffering six years ago, failing to acknowledge my feelings. After you left, I realized I couldn't live without you."

He kept his gaze on her, produced a ring from his pocket, and knelt. "I rushed things lately, causing problems. Will you marry me again?"
