Chapter 1327
Lucian drove Roxanne and the children back to Roxanne's house. Roxanne felt uneasy throughout the ride, assuming Lucian's unusually slow driving indicated he had something to say. However, he remained silent as the car stopped before the mansion, replacing her anxiety with confusion. In contrast, the children chattered happily in the backseat, continuing their play even after the car stopped, hopping out to chase each other in the yard.
Once the children were out of earshot, Roxanne asked, "Do you have something to say to me?" She suspected he felt uncomfortable speaking in front of the children. Lucian simply smiled. "I just wanted to spend a little more time with you all, that's all." He gazed at Roxanne, sighing. "I don't know when you'll give me an answer, and I'm worried you'll run away again. You won't run away again, will you?"
A flicker of guilt crossed her eyes as she offered a sheepish smile. "I won't. I already promised to think about it, so I'll definitely give you an answer."
Relief washed over Lucian. He rolled up the window. "Rest early. Good night."
Roxanne smiled and waved. "Drive safe."
After Lucian left, she turned to her three children, who were playing together happily, Archie and Benny excitedly embracing Estella. "Yay, we won't have to be apart anymore! You're our sister! We'll treat you a million times better than before!"
Estella's eyes crinkled as a wide smile spread across her face. "I'll do the same to you both!"
They ran to Roxanne, and she hugged them tightly. "All right. It's getting late. Let's go to bed."
The children, though reluctant to end their playtime, obeyed and followed their mother inside. Before Roxanne's bedroom, the boys protested, "We want to sleep with Mommy and Essie too!" Estella, mirroring their plea, looked at Roxanne with pleading eyes.
This was a new situation for Roxanne. Archie and Benny had always slept in their own room, and she was accustomed to it. She hadn't anticipated their opposition.
"You're boys. Boys are different from girls, so you can't sleep with Essie," she explained patiently, recognizing the need to teach them about gender differences.
Disappointed, but accepting of their mother's decision, the boys quietly agreed, "Okay, then."
Roxanne noticed their disappointment and reassured them, "Essie will always be with us. You can see her anytime you want, so it isn't necessary to sleep together."
Their spirits lifted, and Roxanne breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Archie and Benny return to their room. Leading Estella to her own, she noticed the pure joy in the little girl's eyes. Estella repeatedly called her "Mommy," as if to confirm she wasn't dreaming. "I also have a mommy now!"
After showering and smelling faintly of baby soap, Estella leaped into Roxanne's arms. Roxanne chuckled, catching the little girl. "You've always had a mommy. It's just that I haven't found you sooner. Now that I have, I'll never let you go."
