Chapter 1332
Meanwhile, at the Pearson residence, Aubree locked herself in her room, refusing food and water after returning from the Farwell home. A single thought consumed her: "I'm doomed. No one can save me. My life is ruined! I can't believe Roxanne told Lucian to involve the police. I'd rather die than go to prison." Her terror and fury intensified with each passing moment. Consequently, she ignored the internet news.
Samuel simultaneously loved and hated his daughter. Aubree was his only child; how could he bear to see her jailed? Her foolish actions had brought the Pearson family to ruin. Early that morning, his phone was inundated with calls from Pearson Group branch heads. Each reported plummeting stock prices and business partners demanding dissolution of their agreements. With each call, Samuel's paternal affection waned, replaced by mounting rage.
Then, a tear-streaked Gina burst into his study. "Samuel, terrible news! Look at this! How can they criticize our family and Aubree like this?" Gina wept, overcome by the online vitriol. The Pearson family had never faced such public humiliation.
Grimacing, Samuel took her phone. Reading the scathing online comments, he gripped the device so tightly his knuckles whitened. "Unfilial daughter! Does she know the trouble she's caused?"
"What do we do, Samuel?" Gina asked, her voice trembling.
Enraged, Samuel shoved her to the floor. "All you do is cry! You're useless!" He stormed to Aubree's room and pounded on the door.
Aubree, in shock, didn't respond. A loud crash followed as Samuel kicked the door down. "You b*stard! Come out and face the mess you made! I told you to apologize to the Farwells! Instead, you ruined everything! You could have been Mrs. Farwell if you hadn't acted so recklessly!"
He raged on, "If you hadn't treated Essie so poorly, she wouldn't have rejected you, and Lucian wouldn't have delayed marrying you for six years!" His fury escalated with each thought. He kicked the door down completely.
Seeing her father's bloodshot eyes, Aubree's heart sank. "What's wrong, Dad? What happened?" she asked, fearing the police were after her.
Before she could continue, Samuel interrupted, "How dare you ask! Look at what you've done!" He threw the phone at her. Aubree instinctively dodged, narrowly avoiding injury.
She picked up the phone. Online comments about the Pearsons clinging to the Farwells had vanished, replaced by praise for Roxanne and condemnation of Aubree as a homewrecker.
