“Ah!” Aubree cried, violently throwing her phone across the room. “I’ll make Roxanne regret the day she was born! She’s responsible. She has to be!”

She was about to storm out when Samuel stopped her.

“Idiot! Have you forgotten what happened at the Farwell residence yesterday? Do you think confronting Roxanne now is wise?” he rebuked.

Aubree’s anger intensified. “You’re my father! Can you stand by and do nothing while they curse me online? We’ve nothing left to lose; I’m dragging that bitch down with me!”

Samuel, his anger finally erupting, slapped her. She fell onto her bed. “You ruined our family, and show no remorse! You’re ready to repeat your mistakes. Listen: I don’t care if you have to kneel before Lucian or grovel; you will convince him to stop targeting us. You’re responsible for this mess! Otherwise, no one can save you!”

“You’re the reason she is who she is; you figure it out!” Samuel snapped, already suffering a headache. He strode into his study and slammed the door.

Alone in Aubree’s messy room, staring at the kicked-down door and smashed phone, Gina burst into tears.

Aubree slammed on the brakes after driving a considerable distance. He expects me to apologize to Lucian? In his dreams! she thought. This is all that bitch’s fault, so why should I apologize? I swear I’ll make Roxanne pay!
