Chapter 1360
Coming down the stairs, Aubree found her father surrounded by relatives, their fingers pointed at him, a torrent of accusations filling the air. "What are you guys doing?" she asked, taking in the scene.
In the Pearson family, theirs was always the dominant branch; such treatment was unheard of. At the sound of her voice, all eyes turned to her.
"You dare question us?" one relative retorted. "If you hadn't offended Lucian, our family wouldn't be in this mess! Old Mr. Pearson built Pearson Group single-handedly. It's not a toy! You caused this, yet we must bear the consequences?"
Aubree, her cheek still swollen from Samuel's slap, looked wretched. Fury trembled in her hands. "Oh, we're talking about that now, are we? Didn't you all bask in the glory when Pearson Group was at its peak? Without Lucian's marriage to me, the company wouldn't have reached such heights. And now this?"
The relatives exchanged uneasy glances, speechless. Samuel, though relieved the immediate pressure was off, felt a pang of guilt. He stood, his expression grim. "Aubree, apologize!"
"Why should I? I did nothing wrong!" she countered. "Did you thank us for our contributions when you enjoyed the fruits of our labor? You hypocrites are disgusting!"
Her words struck them like a blow. After a tense silence, someone finally said, "The priority is finding a solution to this crisis. This bickering is getting us nowhere."
Another quickly agreed. "Exactly. Let's focus on solving this problem."
Samuel sank onto the couch, exhausted. "So, what solutions do you have?"
Lucian wouldn't let any Pearson off lightly. The day's events had drained Samuel completely. Silence descended again.
Then, a hesitant voice broke the stillness. "Farwell Group is targeting us, not the other way around. If you relinquish your managerial rights and step down, Farwell Group might be more lenient."
Agreement rippled through the room. "We have no issue with your leadership, but this makes sense. If you refuse, we all go down with you." "As long as Pearson Group stands, you'll have food on the table."
The accusations rained down, painting Samuel and his family as sinners. He hung his head, unable to respond.
Aubree's rage ignited. "Shut up! Who do you think you are? A bunch of hypocrites! How dare you point fingers at us!"
Their silence was a testament to her fury, but Aubree knew Samuel would cave. She turned to her father, about to plead with him to refuse, but he spoke first. "Understood. I'll do as you suggest. I'm willing to relinquish some of my shares."
