Chapter 1365
Estella nodded innocently at their explanation. It's true; I know nothing about the stock market, and hearing about it wouldn't mean anything to me anyway. "Then finish your discussion and come play with me!" Estella whined. Benny gave Estella a guilty nod.
As he watched her climb onto the bed, he produced his watch to message his father. Meanwhile, Lucian was displeased to learn from Benny's message that Roxanne was going to another medical consultation with Jack. Though I can't bear to say anything to her, I'm even more unwilling to keep this to myself.
After considering the matter, Lucian called Jonathan, blaming him for telling Roxanne about the Damaris family's consultation and for introducing her to Jack. Jonathan was amused by his friend's accusations. "Are you kidding? I did that to help you appease your wife! She would have left the country if not for the Damaris family's project!"
Since learning about the Farwell family's broken engagement with the Pearson family, Jonathan had practically treated Roxanne as his sister-in-law. Lucian was relieved, the hostility in his tone lessening. "Anyway, you've somewhat played matchmaker. I'm courting Roxanne, but she still insists on going with Jack. I can't say anything to her for fear of being accused of restricting her freedom. What do you think I should do?"
Jonathan paused before replying. "You could have just asked for my opinion." Lucian answered carelessly, "Whatever. So, what do you suggest?"
Jonathan remained silent. This is between them; it's best I don't interfere. Besides, my old tricks have failed. Lucian finally convinced Roxanne to say yes, but it's evident he's upset.
A moment later, Jonathan asked tentatively, "You can't stop her from going, and you don't like her spending time alone with Jack. Is that it?" Lucian hummed in agreement.
"Then why don't you go with her?" Jonathan suggested. "She can't stop you from going if you decide to." Lucian remained silent for a long time.
Thinking his friend was dissatisfied, Jonathan was about to offer another suggestion when he realized he'd been hung up on. He sighed in exasperation. When will those two finally get together, so my mediating days can end?
Standing in the Farwell Group CEO's office, Cayden stared blankly at his employer. "Are you sure you want to personally check the Jadeborough account, Mr. Farwell?" Lucian nodded indifferently. "Is there a problem?"
Cayden despaired when his employer announced his intention to inspect a branch account in Jadeborough. Lucian never personally handled such tasks; the CFO's presence sufficed. He couldn't understand why his employer would make this trip when numerous urgent matters demanded his attention at headquarters.
However, seeing Lucian's resolve, he couldn't object. "One more thing," Lucian instructed, his expression unchanged, "I'll be gone for a few days, so reschedule everything on our itinerary." Cayden could only nod.
