Chapter 1377
Lucian furrowed his brows. โWhat else can I do? I donโt know anything about medical consultation. Since youโre in the medical industry, give me some tips.โ
Jonathan held his forehead in exasperation. Is he seriously thinking of helping out at the nursing home tomorrow? He sighed inwardly before replying patiently, โFrom what youโve said, Roxanne and Jack are staying in the same hotel. Arenโt you worried? You know Jack has ulterior motives toward Roxanneโฆโ
Lucianโs brow furrowed deeper. He looked up at Roxanneโs room; the lights were already on.
Recalling Jonathanโs words, Lucian couldnโt sit still. He immediately opened the car door and got out. Jonathan continued chattering on the phone.
After checking into the hotel, Lucian reserved the room next to Roxanneโs. It was almost ten oโclock when Roxanne entered her room. She hesitated momentarily as she passed Jackโs room, then proceeded to her own.
Exhausted after a long day, Roxanne showered immediately. Emerging from the bathroom, she saw her phone ringing. Lucianโs name flashed on the caller ID. Assuming he was calling to confirm his safe arrival, she answered while drying her hair. โAre you back already?โ
She heard a beeping soundโa key card unlocking a door. โI am. I just found out the branch office booked me in this same hotel. If Iโd known, we could have walked together. Whereโs your room?โ he asked, his voice even.
Surprise and confusion flickered across Roxanneโs face. It seemed strange the branch office hadn't informed Lucian earlier. And everything that day felt too coincidental. However, dismissing it as insignificant, she gave Lucian her room number.
Immediately, he exclaimed, โ808? What are the odds? Iโm next door!โ
Roxanne knitted her brows. Too much of a coincidenceโฆ If he hadnโt asked for her room number first, she would have suspected heโd planned it.
Lucian stood outside her door, staring blankly. He and Jonathan had assumed sheโd at least open the door to see him next door. But after waiting, her door remained shut.
Then, Roxanneโs voice: โItโs late. You should rest. You must be tired after driving all day.โ A yawn followed.
Lucian had no choice but to agree. โYou too.โ
Roxanne hummed, ending the call. Lucian stared at his phone, displeasure furrowing his brow before entering his room. He regretted listening to Jonathanโs bad idea, worried Roxanne would notice the coincidences and doubt him.
Meanwhile, at home, Jonathan wondered if he should call Lucian for an update when he felt his ear burning. He rubbed it and decided against it. What if theyโreโฆ He didnโt want to interrupt, spoiling the moment. Iโll just wait until tomorrow!
