Chapter 1379
โSo, what are we going to eat?โ Roxanne asked, already aware of her rumbling stomach.
Lucian looked away, then replied, โI havenโt been here in a long time, so Iโm not sure if that restaurant is still open. Come on, letโs head downstairs.โ
They chatted as they walked toward the elevator. Jackโs door opened slightly, revealing him as they entered. His expression darkened upon seeing Roxanneโs outfit and recognizing Lucian. Lucian! he thought. Heโs the one who came to Jadeborough with Roxanne! I canโt believe she declined my dinner invitation only to dine with Lucian! Is it true their relationship is improving because of Essie? If so, winning Roxanne will be nearly impossible!
Jackโs face clouded.
The elevator reached the first floor. Roxanne followed Lucian toward the hotel entrance, instantly regretting her choice of dress. The short garment exposed much of her body to the chilling night air. A gust of wind sent a shiver through her as she hugged herself.
โWait here. Iโll go back andโโ She started to say sheโd get a jacket, but Lucian interrupted, removing his dress shirt and offering it to her. Heโd been dressed casually for dinner, wearing only the black shirt over a T-shirt. Removing the shirt revealed his slender, muscular arms.
Roxanne instinctively looked away, her gaze falling upon his impressively muscled chest. Usually seeing him in formal attire, she'd only noticed his broad frame. The T-shirt revealed his true physiqueโa far cry from the image of a man who spent his days in an office.
Lucianโs voice snapped her out of her stupor. โAre you satisfied with what you see? Iโve been keeping up with my workouts.โ
Her face flushed crimson. โI-Itโs fine. Iโll go grab a jacketโฆโ she stammered, looking away.
Lucian frowned. โWhy? You had no issues wearing Larryโs coat, did you?โ
Roxanne stared, momentarily confused before understanding his reference. He remembers that! she thought. And is heโฆjealous?
She stopped fidgeting as Lucian helped her into the shirt, buttoning the top few buttons to cover her chest. A whiff of his clean scent filled her senses, unexpectedly comforting.
