Chapter 1382

Lucian gently pulled Roxanne back down. "There's still plenty. Eat slowly." He then shelled another crawfish for her.

Roxanne was puzzled by his calm demeanor. Gradually, however, she relaxed. She always felt safe with him, remembering how he had steadied her when she'd fallen into the water at the beach. Their rhythm returned seamlessly. Roxanne mindlessly ate the delicious crawfish he prepared.

They had just finished when the drunkards approached again, each clutching a beer.

"Hey, gorgeous. Come have a drink with us!" one slurred, leaning so close his glass nearly hit Roxanne's face.

Roxanne frowned, starting to rise, but Lucian's hand shot out, firmly seizing the drunkard's wrist and twisting his hand away from her. An icy glint flashed in Lucian's eyes as a subtle smile played on his lips. "You like to drink? Let's drink together," he said, raising his own glass.

Initially stunned, the drunkard recoiled, trying to shake Lucian's grip. But Lucian's hold was like a vise; the drunkard struggled in vain, his wrist burning with the pressure.

"Are you crazy? Who wants to drink with you? Stay away from me unless you're courting death!" the man yelled.

The other drunkards surged forward, threatening a fight. Lucian, however, remained unfazed, slowly finishing his beer while pinning the man's arm to the table.

Roxanne's heart pounded. What was Lucian doing? Were these men filming a movie? Or were they bodyguards, she wondered, noticing their identical uniforms in such an unlikely place.

A buzz of gossip rippled through the crowd. Roxanne sensed a connection between Lucian and these supposed bodyguards. She whipped her head around to see three MPVs pulling up. Over ten large men in suits emerged and strode towards them.

"Damn it! He called for backup!"

The drunkards finally realized their predicament and attempted to flee, but the bodyguards swiftly apprehended them.

"Mr. Farwell," the lead bodyguard greeted respectfully.

Lucian nodded impassively, handing the subdued drunkard to the bodyguard leader. The previously boisterous drunkards, now sobered by fear, begged for mercy.

"Sir, we're sorry! We won't do it again!" "Sir, please forgive us. We were drunk..."

Lucian looked at Roxanne, giving her the decision.

Roxanne hesitated. She was frightened, but didn't want to cause trouble. "Send them somewhere to sober up. Let's go home," she said.

Lucian nodded, taking her hand. Before leaving, he exchanged a knowing glance with the bodyguard leader, ensuring the drunkards' "sobering up" would be... less than straightforward.
