Chapter 1381

โ€œIโ€™m sorry, I really didnโ€™t see you there,โ€ Roxanne apologized, subtly adjusting her chair. The drunkardsโ€™ eyes, however, lit up with lust at the sight of her. Discomfort clouded her face as she noticed their leering gazes.

Then she heard Lucian rise beside her. Sheโ€™d expected a confrontation, but instead, he simply stepped in front of her, his frame shielding her from their view.

โ€œGiven how crowded it is, bumping into people is unavoidable,โ€ Lucian said, his gaze sharp. โ€œBut since you feel weโ€™re at fault, Iโ€™ll take responsibility. Which table are you at? Iโ€™ll have the owner add your expenses to my bill.โ€

Relief washed over Roxanne. Thank goodness, she thought, I really thought he was going to fight them! While he was skilled, they outnumbered them; a fight would be disastrous.

Sheโ€™d hoped that offer would satisfy them, but they remained unsatisfied.

One drunkard snorted. โ€œHmph! We donโ€™t need your money!โ€ His gaze returned to Roxanne, lecherous. โ€œBut that girlโ€ฆ sheโ€™s quite something. She joins us tonight, and weโ€™ll forget this.โ€

Roxanne tensed, panic rising as he reached for her. Just as she felt fear overwhelm her, Lucian pulled her into his embrace, moving her out of reach.

His arms offered a sense of security, but worry still gnawed at her. โ€œLetโ€™s get out of here,โ€ she urged. They were unpredictable; who knew what they might do next?

โ€œOh, myโ€ฆ look at those thighs!โ€ one exclaimed, his gaze fixed on Roxanneโ€™s legs. She instinctively pulled away, nuzzling closer to Lucian to shield herself.

His companions, noticing the situation, attempted to pull him back, but failed. Eventually, they apologized profusely.

Though the immediate danger passed, Roxanne remained tense and anxious. Good thing Lucian buttoned my shirt earlier, she thought, they would have made even more crude comments otherwise.

Lucian, noticing her terror, made a call. The drunkards, despite their depravity, seemed intimidated by his aura. As he spoke on the phone, their friends hastily dragged them away.

โ€œLetโ€™s go,โ€ Roxanne said, a worried frown furrowing her brow as she moved from his embrace. โ€œThey might come back.โ€
