Chapter 1439

Madilyn's eyes widened at the Farwell Group announcement. What had happened during her absence? Did Lucian know Archie and Benny's true identities? Glancing at her phone and the throng of journalists, she understood their frenzy. Two new Farwell family members had appeared, quite understandably causing a stir. Even she was shocked!

Her fatigue vanished instantly. Frowning, she called Roxanne, only to hear a busy signal. Repeated attempts yielded the same result. Frustrated, she abandoned the call and approached the crowd. She tried to push through to Roxanne, but the journalists proved insurmountable. After several failed, near-trampling attempts, she retreated to her car.

She couldn't reach Roxanne, but Lucian was another option. Her godson's and her best friend's fates hung in the balance; she needed answers. Madilyn floored the accelerator, speeding away from the mansion.

Her anger intensified upon seeing the absence of journalists outside Farwell Group. The announcement originated there; shouldn't they be questioning Lucian? Why were they hounding Roxanne and her children? Were they cowardly bullies, preying on the weak and fearing the strong?

Fuming, Madilyn stormed into the office building. The receptionist stopped her. "I'm sorry, but you'll need an appointment."

The receptionist's conflicted expression upon learning Madilyn sought Lucian was palpable. Madilyn fought to control her temper. Taking a deep breath, she asked, "Farwell Group made the announcement, right? You know Roxanne Jarvis? I'm her best friend, here to speak to her ex-husband! Why would I need an appointment?"

The receptionist remained silent, refusing to let Madilyn proceed. Tension escalated as they stared each other down. Cayden arrived, diffusing the situation. Recognizing Lucian's assistant, Madilyn exclaimed, "Cayden!"

Cayden, currently assisting Roxanne per Lucian's instructions, merely paused, glancing at Madilyn. Who is this woman? She looks familiar…

Madilyn grabbed his collar and pulled him towards the elevator. "Take me to Lucian!" Cayden, still trying to place her, was caught completely off guard. By the time he registered her actions, the elevator was ascending.

Remembering Madilyn as Roxanne's best friend, Cayden politely inquired, "May I know the reason you wish to see Mr. Farwell, Ms. Xander?"

"To confront him about Roxanne, duh! Why else?" Madilyn snapped, exiting the elevator. That scoundrel had hurt Roxanne terribly, and now he dared to bother her after her return from overseas!

Intimidated, Cayden silently followed her to Lucian's office. Madilyn flung open the door without knocking and barged in.
