Chapter 1467
Elias furrowed his brows at his wife's behavior. "I don't recall any conflict between the two of you six years ago. Why are you so prejudiced against her?"
"Are you calling me unreasonable?" Sonya snapped, whirling to glare at him.
Elias's resignation deepened. "I'm stating facts. Why are you taking this so personally?"
"Then let's go to her place now! We'll see if the child is truly hurt! Didn't she ask us to pick Essie up from her house? Let's go now!"
Knowing her anger fueled this, Elias drove them back to the Farwell main residence. Sonya grumbled incessantly, increasingly irritated by their destination. Elias ignored her. He already regretted agreeing to pick Estella up from kindergarten. As Farwell Group's chairman, he couldn't create a scene in someone else's home. Even for the Farwell family's sake, he felt such drastic action unnecessary.
Meanwhile, after informing his father, Lucian worried about Benny's injury and went to Roxanne's.
Benny stared at his mother, murmuring, "Mommy, was that call from Mr. Farwell?"
While treating his wound, Roxanne replied, "Mhm. I forgot Essie was supposed to go home with her grandparents today."
Benny was unconcerned; his focus was on his father. "Will Mr. Farwell be coming?" He was hurt and craved his father's reassurance.
Roxanne hesitated. "Mr. Farwell is a busy man..."
The doorbell interrupted. Assuming it was Elias and Sonya, Roxanne opened the door, surprised to see Lucian.
"Why are you here? Didn't you say..."
Lucian, in a plain shirt and tie, explained quietly, "They said they'll pick Essie up another day and asked you to care for Benny."
Roxanne's shock was evident. "Where's Benny? How is he? Is it serious?"
Lucian easily entered, as if at home. By the time Roxanne recovered, he was in the living room.
Benny, hearing his father's voice, cried out, "I'm here!"
Roxanne had seated Benny at the dining table for easier access to his wound. Lucian arrived mid-treatment; iodine still stained the boy's wrist. Archie and Estella joined Lucian.
In the dining room, Lucian saw Benny's tear-stained face. His brow furrowed. It was the first time he'd seen the boy cry so hard. He guessed it must have been quite painful.
"I heard you were injured. Does it hurt badly?" Lucian asked with concern, approaching Benny's injured wrist cautiously, unsure of the extent of the injury.
Benny smiled. "It doesn't hurt anymore! I'm really tough!"
Roxanne entered, dryly remarking, "I wonder who was crying when he arrived."
