Chapter 1470

Since Aubree only specified their meeting place, not the time, Ophelia arrived early to wait at the entrance. It wasn't until after eight o'clock that she finally saw Aubree.

"It's been a while," Aubree began, approaching Ophelia with a scrutinizing glance. Seeing Ophelia's condition mirrored her own, relief washed over Aubree, intensifying the smug gleam in her eyes.

Ophelia, seemingly unfazed, glanced at the bag in Aubree's hand and smiled. "Indeed. Seems you're the same as always."

It was true. Aubree was impeccably dressed, carrying a bag worth hundreds of thousands, a bag she seemed unconcerned about. Had Aubree not mentioned the Pearson family's troubles, Ophelia would never have guessed at her current misery.

Aubree curled her lips in satisfaction, handing the bag to Ophelia. "Here's the gift I promised. I've only used it two or three times; it's practically new."

Ophelia's eyes lit up as she carefully accepted the bag. Soon, they entered a bar, Aubree leading the way. After securing a corner booth, they ordered two bottles of wine.

Once settled, they began drinking and talking. "You did well this time. Have you tied up all loose ends?" Aubree asked, her tone laced with concern.

Ophelia smiled. "Don't worry. I left no trace. Jeffrey suspected nothing, blaming the child's carelessness."

"That's good to hear," Aubree said, visibly relieved. A cold gleam then settled in her eyes. "But this isn't enough to quell my hatred!"

Benny's fall was merely the beginning of her revenge. She needed much more to feel satisfied; she craved their continued suffering. Only then would Roxanne truly understand despair.

Seeing Aubree's fury, Ophelia reassured her, "As long as I'm at the kindergarten, there will be more opportunities. I acted hastily this time, but I'll make them pay next time."

Aubree observed Ophelia, noting the matching intensity of her hatred. Pleased, she poured a glass of wine and offered it to Ophelia.

"You're my only ally now. Don't worry, I won't forget your help. The position at Pearson Group is still promised. The moment the family recovers, you'll be my right-hand woman!"

Aubree's confidence and glamorous appearance convinced Ophelia that the Pearson family's misfortune was merely temporary. Hopeful for Aubree's promised rewards, Ophelia raised her glass in a toast.

Over their drinks, they discussed their plans for the children. Leaving the bar, Ophelia could barely stand, yet she reaffirmed her loyalty to Aubree: "I'll help you. I'll put those three brats and that woman in their place."

Observing Ophelia's drunken declaration, a disdainful glint crossed Aubree's eyes. The only reason I helped her was because it cost me nothing. I never expected such an obedient dog. Still, all that money was wasted; she's as gullible as ever.
