Chapter 1474

Frieda felt uneasy; she hadn't heard from Aubree in days. She knew Aubree wouldn't give up without a fight and considered herself Aubree's only reliable support. Money wasn't the problem; the lack of contact was. Frieda worried Aubree's desperation might engulf them both. Her anxiety grew with each passing day.

That afternoon, Frieda left Queen Group early, driving toward the suburbs. She needed to check on Aubree personally. Arriving at the suburban mansion, she hesitated at the gate, Gina's crazed expression still vivid in her memory. Fearing a confrontation, she called Aubree instead.

Aubree answered calmly, almost unconcerned. "What's up, Frieda?"

Bewildered but cautious, Frieda replied, "Aubree, I'm here. Downstairs. Your momโ€ฆ"

Aubree chuckled, sensing Frieda's anxiety. "Come on in. They're not home."

Samuel and Gina were desperately seeking help, unaware that their offense against the Farwells was common knowledge. No one dared to defy the Farwells.

Relieved, Frieda entered the villa and went to Aubree's bedroom. Despite her troubles, the room remained tidy, much like before.

Aubree greeted her with mock amusement. "Well, well, well. What brings you here?"

Guilt flashed across Frieda's face. Panicked, she produced a card. "I was worried you might need this. Five hundred thousand. Use it."

Her sole intention was to give Aubree money, yet Aubree's cheerful demeanor unsettled her. Aubree seemed far less resentful than before, and Frieda suspected hidden actions. Fearing a volatile reaction, she avoided direct questions.

After a moment's thought, Frieda tried a different approach. "You must be bored. New bar in town? Drinks tonight?"

Aubree, after a brief assessment, agreed silently. She had time to execute her plan; a little fun wouldn't hurt.

As dusk fell, Frieda drove Aubree to a secluded bar in a narrow alley. The bar, owned by someone within their social circle, was a strategic choice given the Pearson-Farwell feud. Frieda chose a discreet booth to avoid notice. She poured drinks for Aubree, hoping to coax information from her once she was intoxicated.
