Chapter 1496
Lucian studied her with cold eyes for a few seconds before releasing her collar. Ophelia nearly fell, catching herself just in time. Breathing a sigh of relief, she thought she had been spared. โTie her up there,โ Lucianโs ruthless voice commanded from above.
Opheliaโs breath hitched. Tie her up where? Anxiously, she lifted her head to see the small helicopter. She was certain she would faint. The bodyguards, however, prevented this, dragging her to the helicopter and securing her beneath it.
Moments later, the rotor blades whirred to life. Though tightly bound, Ophelia struggled. โDonโt struggle,โ Lucian whispered in her ear. โI canโt guarantee you wonโt fall mid-flight. Horington offers a lovely view, but I can only take you around the suburbs. Consider this a reward for your honesty, Ms. Smith.โ
He gestured to the pilot, and the helicopter ascended slowly. The moment she was airborne, Ophelia turned ashen and fainted.
Lucian watched the helicopter disappear before turning to a bodyguard. โWait for her return and keep a close eye on her.โ The bodyguard nodded. Lucian didnโt linger, immediately heading downstairs.
Once in the car, Cayden observed his employer carefully. โMr. Farwell, are we returning to the manor, orโฆ?โ
โWeโre going back,โ Lucian said after a moment.
Cayden hummed in agreement and started the car. He guessed why Lucian wasnโt seeking Roxanne. Even he found Lucianโs wrath difficult to endure, let alone Roxanne and the children. Ms. Smith truly must have had a death wish!
The car stopped before the Farwell residence. After giving Cayden instructions, Lucian entered the manor. Catalina, having prepared dinner, approached him. Before she could speak, Lucian gestured for silence.
Catalina swallowed her words, watching Lucian ascend the stairs. She couldnโt help but worry about the expression on his face. I wonder what happened to make Mr. Farwell so furious. Still, she dared not ask, instead calling Roxanne. Mr. Farwell will likely say something if Mrs. Farwell asks.
Meanwhile, Roxanne anxiously awaited Lucianโs news, checking her phone repeatedly. The moment she received a call from the Farwell residence, she answered immediately.
โMrs. Farwell,โ Catalina greeted cautiously.
Roxanne was momentarily stunned by Catalinaโs tone, feeling a momentary jolt of dรฉjร vu. Before Roxanne could respond, Catalina said, โAre you free? If so, could you please call Mr. Farwell? He seemed extremely angry when he returned, and he even skipped dinner. I donโt know what happened.โ
In the past, Catalina would have been helpless. But Roxanne was here now.
Roxanne was surprised. โHeโs back?โ
Catalina replied, confused, โHe is. Whatโs the matter? Were you planning to meet Mr. Farwell?โ
