Chapter 1526: Getting Used To It
Lucian leaned in to whisper in Roxanneโs ear, โI have a couch in my room. You can sleep in the bed, and I will sleep on the couch. You can relax now, right?โ His warm breath tickled her ear, making her cheeks flush. She glanced at Catalina and the children standing nearby, relieved they hadnโt overheard.
โMommy, you havenโt made us breakfast in a long timeโฆโ Bennyโs pitiful expression, and Estellaโs clinging hand, spoke volumes of their desire for her to stay. Archie, though silent, mirrored their longing. Roxanneโs heart ached. She agreed to stay.
Seeing this, Lucian immediately told the children, โItโs late. Your mommy is tired; she needs to rest. You should all go to bed now.โ He then gently guided Roxanne upstairs, leaving the children with Catalina. Roxanne managed a quick smile before being led away.
Lucianโs bedroom was much as she remembered it from six years ago: a rather monotonous grey. Roxanne felt a sudden nervousness.
โI instructed them to stick to the model interior design โ I was too lazy to oversee renovations. We can change things gradually if you donโt like it,โ Lucianโs deep voice murmured beside her.
Touched by his words, Roxanne was cut short before she could respond as he led her inside. He immediately retrieved a blanket from the bed and placed it on the couch, a thoughtful gesture that seemed to dispel any lingering awkwardness.
โIโll go to the study to work. You should rest,โ Lucian said, sensing her discomfort and offering space.
Roxanne offered a grateful smile. โDonโt stay up too late.โ
Lucian nodded and left.
After resting, Roxanne entered the bathroom, noticing two sets of toiletries โ and even feminine hygiene products. A wave of emotion washed over her as she considered his thoughtfulness.
After showering, she found a brand-new set of pajamas on the bedโa soft, grey silk nightgown. Exhausted from a long day, she slipped it on and lay down, falling asleep instantly.
She was nearly asleep when she heard the door softly open. Lucian entered, his steps light, careful not to disturb her.
โYouโre back,โ Roxanne murmured, touched by his quiet return.
