Chapter 1532: Am Right
Upon hearing the woman's concerns, Lucian's eyes softened. He reassured her in a deep, comforting voice, "You don't need to worry. I've discussed this with them. They will leave soon."
Roxanne was surprised. "When? What did you say to them?"
Lucian avoided her questions. "They've always stayed at the Farwell main residence. It will be more convenient for them to return. Staying with us is only going to make things difficult."
Noticing his reluctance, Roxanne decided not to press. However, she felt something was amiss. "But I'm the outsider. If you're asking them to leave because of meโ"
"We're going to be a family if you agree to my proposal," Lucian interjected. "As for my parents, you don't need to worry about them holding grudges. I'll handle that."
Roxanne backed down when he mentioned the proposal again. "I believe you will..."
She glanced at the time. "It's getting late. I should head to the research institute. You should continue with your work too."
Lucian hummed in response, waiting for her to hang up.
Roxanne sighed with relief after the call ended. After greeting Catalina and instructing her to care for the children, she changed into her work clothes and went to the research institute. Following yesterday's discussion and research session with Jack, they were only one step away from finalizing the new drugโone more day. She pushed the morning's unpleasantness aside, focusing on her work.
Jack was already waiting.
"Mr. Damaris."
Jack's attitude toward her had been erratic lately. Roxanne, however, treated him only as a colleague. Since Damaris Group led the collaboration, he was her superior. She felt guilty about being late.
Jack's eyes darkened at the faint hickey on her neck, but he suppressed his anger, greeting her with a smile. "You must be tired from the overtime work, Ms. Jarvis. It's good you got some rest. Since you're here, let's get on with the final step. I really hope we succeed this time."
Roxanne nodded, regaining her composure. She donned her lab coat and entered the laboratory.
They worked separately. After a morning of work, Roxanne had a breakthrough.
"I think... I've done it."
Success hadn't been easy; there had been many failures. Roxanne had been especially careful this time.
Jack came to her immediately upon hearing her. They tested the medicine's efficacy. Tests on lab mice showed Roxanne's new medicine significantly reduced cancer cell activity!
"We did it!"
Jack grabbed her shoulder. "I knew my judgment was right. I knew you could do it!"
Simultaneously, he vowed to make her his. A medical genius like Roxanne belonged with the Damaris family; she could only reach her full potential married to him. He knew he would never let her go, no matter the cost.
