Chapter 1546: Will Not Forget Your Presents

During lunch, Lucian showered Roxanne with endearing, if slightly awkward, compliments, causing her to simultaneously enjoy the attention and feel slightly embarrassed. After their meal, the waitress presented them with complimentary desserts. "These are on the house," she said. "We wish you both a long and loving relationship!" Roxanne expressed her gratitude.

There were three portions of dessert. "I wonder what the children are doing right now," Roxanne mused. "Essie loves tiramisu."

Lucian suggested, "They're probably on their afternoon break. If you're worried, we can drop by the kindergarten to see them and bring them these desserts."

Delighted at the prospect, Roxanne replied, "You took the words right out of my mouth."

They had the desserts packed and headed to the kindergarten. Pippa, having been informed beforehand, met them at the break room with the children.

"Daddy! Mommy!" the children exclaimed, keeping their voices low out of consideration for the other children napping.

Roxanne smiled, said goodbye to Pippa, and took the children to the car. Estella's eyes lit up at the sight of the tiramisu. As Roxanne carefully opened it, Estella tousled her hair. "The restaurant gave us these complimentary desserts while we were at lunch," Roxanne explained. "We brought them to you, since it's your favorite. Once you've finished, you can go back to your nap."

Lucian meanwhile distributed the other desserts to Archie and Benny. The children devoured the tiramisu. Benny, after a thoughtful pause, declared, "You have a good eye, Daddy. This cake is delicious!"

Lucian grinned. "We'll buy it more often if you like it so much."

"Thanks, Daddy!" Benny chirped.

While the two chatted happily, Roxanne found herself unable to join the conversation. Lucian, despite knowing the answer, asked Archie, "Do you have any classes this afternoon?"

Archie replied, "Mmm-hmm. There's a group activity Ms. Ward says we can't miss."

Roxanne was about to ask what Lucian was getting at when he sighed, "I wanted to take you all to the movies, but it's a shame you have that activity."

His words made Roxanne question her own actions. Since when did I agree to go to the movies? she thought. She was planning to return to the office.

Estella, her eyes full of anticipation, tugged on Roxanne's sleeve. "Mommy, I want some new clothes! Remember to get me some!"

Roxanne, unable to resist Estella's pleading gaze, conceded. Benny, seizing the opportunity, added, "Daddy, Archie's and my computers need upgrading, too!"

Lucian smiled. "I know. I won't forget your presents."

The children looked at Roxanne expectantly. Roxanne, resigned, said, "Remember to behave during the activity. No presents if you get hurt."

The children's jubilation was palpable.
