Chapter 1548: Which One Do You Want
“If I knew this place would remind you of the past, I would have brought you to a different mall,” Lucian said, his eyes filled with regret.
Once Roxanne calmed down, she smiled and gently disengaged from his embrace. “I was just a little sad, but I’m fine now. Now that Essie and I have been reunited, I’ll make up for everything I failed to give her!”
Lucian nodded slightly, then grasped her hand, his fingers tightening around hers. “Me too. I’ll double my efforts in making it up to all of you.” The conviction in his eyes broadened Roxanne’s smile.
With time to spare before their movie, they window-shopped, strolling level by level. At a men’s boutique, Roxanne paused, her gaze drawn to the clothing inside.
Noticing her attention, Lucian felt a pang of unease. “Who are you buying them for?” he asked, a subtle undercurrent of possessiveness in his voice.
Roxanne, startled, turned to him. As their eyes met, Lucian saw the regret in her eyes slowly replaced by bliss. His initial displeasure melted away, replaced by a growing affection.
A slight curl played on her lips as she softly explained, “Do you know that six years ago, I would imagine you wearing those clothes every time I passed a men’s boutique?” She gushed, her excitement mirroring that of a schoolgirl. Glancing at a mannequin, she added confidently, “I feel you’ll look better than the mannequin in that outfit!”
Watching her reminisce, Lucian felt a pang of nostalgia, tightening his grip on her hand. Roxanne winced at the sudden pressure.
Before she could question him, he pulled her into the boutique. A sales attendant greeted them warmly, “Hello, how may I help you? Please let me know what you’re looking for, and I’ll gladly offer recommendations.”
Embarrassed by Lucian’s public display of affection, Roxanne tried to withdraw her hand, but he held firm.
Repeating her earlier words, Roxanne softly said, “Do you know that six years ago, I would imagine you wearing those clothes every time I passed a men’s boutique while shopping?”
The sales attendant, polite and professional, suggested, “You have a good figure, so there's no need to be particular about the cut. These are our most popular designs this season. You're welcome to try them on if you like.”
Lucian, however, turned to Roxanne and asked in a low voice, “Which one do you want me to try?”
The sales attendant, momentarily stunned, discreetly moved to Roxanne’s side, sensing the true decision-maker. “You’re really blessed to have a husband who takes your fashion advice. It’s clear you have a keen eye for both men and clothes alike!”
Lucian enjoyed the compliment, but Roxanne remained lost in thought. Is Lucian…trying to make it up to me for what I said earlier? she wondered. She had faith in his word, but the specificity of his actions, his response to her casual, melancholic remark, surprised her.
Before she could speak, Lucian answered for her, “Bring me what the mannequins are wearing, in my size. I want to try them.”
