Chapter 1565
Roxanne had thoroughly researched the pricing before setting it. This heightened her awareness of the patients' plight. An exorbitant price would leave many unable to afford the medicine, condemning them to their fate. This was a tragedy she was determined to prevent.
"My price is low," she stated confidently. "However, as I mentioned, I will purchase Damaris Group's medicinal herbs. Once production matures, manufacturing costs will decrease significantly. Furthermore, continued patient purchases will prevent Damaris Group from incurring losses. The only drawback is slightly lower profits."
Jack stared at her incredulously. "What makes you think people will trust the medicine's legitimacy and buy it at such a low price?"
"Someone will buy it!" she insisted, her lips pursed. "Once they see it works, thousands will follow. The medicine will carry Damaris Group's brandโa name synonymous with quality for a century. People will trust the product. That's why I won't easily abandon Damaris Group."
He sighed, exasperated by her stubbornness. "You should at least set the price at three hundred per box."
"As doctors, we must prioritize the patient's perspective. Three hundred is still too expensive," Roxanne countered.
Jack used her own argument against her. "You want to guarantee employee benefits. How will you achieve that with such a low price? Do you think everyone is as altruistic as you?"
Roxanne's expression faltered. She hadn't considered that. "I'll explain the situation to them," she insisted, clenching her fist. "I believe they'll understand." Most of the research institute's employees were handpicked by Harvey, a man with discerning judgment. She believed in long-term profitability and the power of word-of-mouth to establish trust in future products.
"Then tell them yourself," Jack said coldly, rising from the couch. "I came to negotiate in good faith. I even agreed to Damaris Group taking only thirty-five percent of the profit. But your stubbornness is unbelievable!"
Roxanne met his gaze silently.
"Even if you convince your employees, my people won't agree. If you insist on one hundred and twenty per box, this medicine will rot in a warehouse!" His tone was final, leaving no room for further discussion. He turned and left.
Roxanne called after him, "Does this reflect Old Mr. Damaris's position, Mr. Damaris? I don't believe he agrees with you!"
Without turning, Jack replied, "My grandfather is incapacitated. I'm in charge of Damaris Group now. Contact me when you've reconsidered."
He left, leaving Roxanne staring at the empty doorway before finally looking away.
