Chapter 1572: Is the Company Doing All Right?
Just as the crowd thought Lucian would stop, they saw him typing another string of code to trace the hacker's IP address. Afterward, he stood and faced the IT department, their heads bowed in guilt. They revered him not only as their boss but also for his exceptional skills, and so submitted to his questioning.
"Farwell Group didn't pay you all high salaries to do nothing," Lucian said, his dissatisfaction evident. "This is the second such incident, yet none of you solved the problem or identified the hacker!"
The crowd exchanged silent glances. Then, someone steeled themselves and explained, "The hacker is far better than us, Mr. Farwell. We suspectโ"
Lucian snorted, cutting him off. The crowd stared at him in puzzlement. While they weren't watching, he returned to his seat and examined the culprit's IP address on the screen. His expressionโa blend of shock and prideโconfused them.
Closing the window, Lucian remarked, "If none of you can even win against two children, then it's time for some serious self-reflection."
Lucian didn't bother explaining. Turning to Cayden, he ordered, "Cancel everyone's bonus in the IT department this month," and left.
The IT employees lamented internally. Their overtime efforts had been undone by a hacker, costing them their bonuses! But none dared voice their complaints; Lucian had solved the problem they had failed to address.
By the time Lucian and Cayden left the IT department, it was nearly ten o'clock. At the company entrance, he paused, gazing at the night sky. Cayden, sensing his anger, began cautiously, "Please don't be angry, Mr. Farwell. Theyโ"
Before Cayden finished, Lucian said, "I want to use the small helicopter from last time later. Make the necessary arrangements."
Cayden, his questions unspoken, watched Lucian enter his car and then made the calls to fulfill his request. Lucian drove back to the Farwell residence.
Inside, Roxanne and the children were still in the same places he'd left them. He hadn't noticed their anxiety until after discovering the hacker's IP address. Seeing him, the children approached with ingratiating smiles. "You're back, Daddy? Is the company doing all right?"
Furrowing his brows, Lucian fixed them with a serious gaze. "None of you have anything to tell me?"
The children exchanged dejected glances.
