Chapter 1584: It Is Only Right

Lucian smiled faintly. โ€œIf I think lowering the price will benefit us, Iโ€™ll definitely remain firm in that decision.โ€

Roxanne didnโ€™t understand. โ€œBut Jack canโ€™t accept it, and the collaboration will fall apart.โ€

Thatโ€™s precisely what happened; Damaris Group unilaterally terminated the collaboration.

Lucianโ€™s expression remained unchanged. โ€œIโ€™ll force him to work with me.โ€

Roxanne frowned. โ€œHow?โ€

โ€œBy using public opinion. The Damaris family has operated their business for over a century. The public perceives them as benevolent, yet theyโ€™re unwilling to lower medicine prices. Making this public will force them to lower prices, even for reputationโ€™s sake.โ€

Roxanne nodded, feeling sheโ€™d learned something new. Butโ€ฆ

Lucian anticipated her concern. โ€œHowever, this would damage the Damaris familyโ€™s reputation. I donโ€™t mind, but you do.โ€

Roxanne nodded. The Damaris family held a significant position in the medical industry; she, too, considered them exemplary. Furthermore, this pricing decision might be solely Jackโ€™s.

Roxanne didnโ€™t want to ruin the Damaris familyโ€™s reputation. Doing so would impact the entire traditional medicine industry. Feeling defeated, she said, โ€œI canโ€™t do that, but Iโ€™ve contacted all the suppliers I know. None can replace the Damaris family.โ€

Lucian raised an eyebrow at her troubled expression. โ€œPerhaps I can help.โ€

Roxanneโ€™s eyes lit up, but hesitation followed. โ€œThis is the research instituteโ€™s problem. I canโ€™t keep asking you for help.โ€

โ€œBut the matter is urgent, and youโ€™re out of options.โ€

Roxanne opened her mouth, but couldnโ€™t counter him.

Lucian added, โ€œAnyway, Iโ€™m not helping for free.โ€

โ€œYou want a share of the profits?โ€ Roxanne asked, confused.

Lucian was surprised by her question. After a moment, he smiled. โ€œIf it were someone else, Iโ€™d have seized the opportunity to gain something.โ€

Roxanneโ€™s heart pounded. The thought of discussing business with him in the future gave her a headache.

โ€œBut since itโ€™s you, I want something else,โ€ Lucian continued.

Roxanne felt relieved and puzzled.

Lucian leaned close, murmuring something in her ear before returning to his seat, smiling expectantly. Roxanneโ€™s face flushed; a hesitant look filled her eyes.

Without pressure, Lucian drove toward the research institute. At the entrance, he turned to her. โ€œWhat do you think?โ€

Roxanne, hesitant throughout the journey, finally nodded resignedly.

Upon receiving her answer, Lucian smiled, unbuckled his seatbelt, and kissed her. Only when Roxanne ran out of breath did he reluctantly release her.

โ€œIf the research institute canโ€™t hold on, tell me. I can provide funds whenever needed,โ€ Lucian said hoarsely.

Suddenly, Roxanne felt something was amiss. โ€œWhy do I feel like Iโ€™ve become your sugar baby, and youโ€™re even supporting the entire research institute?โ€

Lucian shook his head. โ€œYouโ€™re my wife. Itโ€™s only right for you to spend my money.โ€

Roxanne blushed, silent. She would never ask him for money.
