Chapter 1607: In a Good Mood

They spent a passionate time in the bathroom, and when Lucian finally slowed, Roxanne was exhausted, nearly fainting. He carried her to bed, and their intimacy continued into the early hours.

Roxanne awoke feeling as though her body might crumble. The space beside her was empty; Lucian was gone. The thought of sleeping in separate rooms returned to her as she endured the pain of rising.

"You're up?"

Lucian's sudden entrance startled her; her legs gave way, and she nearly fell. He caught her, pulling her into his arms. She wore the low-necked nightgown he'd helped her into the previous night. Her movement slightly opened the collar, revealing her cleavage and the marks Lucian had left. One look was enough to ignite his response.

Initially relieved by his support, she felt something hard press against her from behind, memories of the previous night flooding back. She pushed him away, glaring. "Are you a beast?"

A fresh wave of pain made her grimace. Lucian looked at her innocently. "But you were clinging to me later. Youโ€”"

"That's enough!" Roxanne snapped, blushing. She fled to the bathroom.

Lucian's eyes crinkled at the corners. He followed, wrapping his arms around her waist and massaging it with his large hands. Despite her resistance, she endured his ministrations for a considerable time.

Emerging from the bathroom, she intended to ignore him.

"Jonathan is waiting downstairs," Lucian said.

Roxanne was stunned. "Why didn't you say something so important earlier?" she asked, her face flushed.

Lucian gave her a look, his piercing gaze subduing her anger. She quickly dressed, tidied, and went downstairs to meet Jonathan, with Lucian following closely.

Jonathan had already finished his second cup of coffee when they arrived.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Queen," Roxanne apologized.

Jonathan looked at her, then at the visibly subdued Lucian, a confused expression on his face. His understanding dawned as he saw the marks peeking from her collar. He gave Lucian a knowing look. "Don't be so formal, Roxanne. Just call me Jonathan, as Lucian does!"

Roxanne was taken aback; the informality seemed inappropriate. She thought, Since my return, Jonathan has helped me greatly, but we aren't that closeโ€ฆ

"Jonathan grew up with me," Lucian explained, sitting beside Roxanne and taking her hand.

Roxanne, still embarrassed in front of Jonathan, resisted, but he held firm.

Jonathan sighed inwardly at the intimacy between his friend and Roxanne. All their hard work and planning hadn't been in vain. They were together. And judging by Lucian's satisfied expression, their passion was undeniable. No wonder he'd been in such a good mood when greeting Jonathan. The long wait had been worth it.
