Chapter 1630: Show Up
Lucian hung up, reminding Archie and Benny to care for Estella. Silence, heavy as a dropped pin, descended on the ward. Gazing at Roxanne, he recalled their recent happy family dinner, the stark contrast amplifying his despair.
โRoxanne, when will you wake up?โ He caressed her face, inhaling her scent, barely suppressing his rage. Jack Damaris! What had he done? If anything happened to her, the entire Damaris household would pay.
He stayed by her bedside all night, his bloodshot eyes and barely controlled fury transforming him into a demon. By afternoon, his patience snapped. He kissed Roxanne, rose, and strode from the ward.
Outside, specialists and researchers were engaged in a heated discussion. Lucian's arrival, radiating oppressive authority, silenced them instantly. Their fearful silence spoke volumes. He saw their terror.
โYouโre all good-for-nothings!โ he chided, his malevolence palpable. Another wave of fear washed over them. Before they could react, he was gone.
โMr. Farwell, where are you going?โ the hospital director asked, his voice trembling.
Lucian paused, his face grim. โIโm going out. Take care of Roxanne. If anything happens to her, you will be held accountable.โ He left without looking back, his patience exhausted, needing answers from Jack.
He drove to the Damaris residence.
โMr. Farwell?โ The Damaris butler rushed out, assuming Jack's return. His surprise was evident. The families had never interacted.
โWhereโs Jack?โ Lucian asked, his expression unreadable.
The butlerโs apprehension was immediate. โMr. Jack isnโt here. Please wait. Iโll inform Old Mr. Damaris.โ
Before he could leave, Lucian strode inside.
โMr. Farwell, you canโt!โ the butler pleaded, nervously trailing behind, unable to stop him.
Lucian ignored him, Roxanne's image filling his mind. Jack would provide an explanation.
โMr. Farwell! Mr. Farwellโฆโ
Hector, tending his garden, froze at the butlerโs panicked voice. Lucian Farwell? Why was he here? The families had minimal interaction, limited to past business dealings the Farwells had won. He wondered what prompted this visit.
