Chapter 1631: Tell Me
"Old Mr. Damaris," Lucian muttered, searching the mansion in vain for Jack. He then headed for the back garden.
Upon finding Hector, Lucian offered a distant greeting. Hector, setting down his watering can, nodded curtly. The butler, his eyes filled with guilt, followed them into the garden. Hector waved him away. "You may leave now. I shall have a chat with Mr. Farwell."
Relieved, the butler retreated to the living room. "I'll prepare some coffee," he offered.
Alone in the garden, Lucian scanned the surroundings, still without sight of Jack. Hector asked, "Why are you here today, Mr. Farwell?"
Lucian, his respect for Hector evident, slightly relaxed his tense expression. "I wish to meet with Jack. May I know his whereabouts?"
Hector, his brow furrowed, leaned on his walking stick and gestured to a small table. "Have a seat before we talk."
Lucian, though reluctant, complied. The butler soon arrived with two cups of coffee.
"You said you're here to see Jack," Hector began. "May I ask what the matter is?"
Hector, a man of the world, maintained his composure despite sensing Lucian's unfriendly intentions. Lucian, suppressing his rage, replied solemnly, "This is a matter between Mr. Damaris and myself. It would be best if you didn't interfere, Old Mr. Damaris. Just tell me where he is."
Lucian consciously avoided implicating the entire Damaris family, aware of Hector's esteemed position and the potential impact on his health.
Hector, however, grew more unsettled by Lucian's reticence. "You can talk to me. Jack is family; I cannot remain uninvolved. Our family upholds strict principles. If he's done wrong, I won't let him off easily."
Lucian's patience finally snapped. "Then I suggest you demand Mr. Damaris' presence, and we shall discuss this before you!"
Hector, seeing Lucian's resolve, agreed and summoned the butler to bring Jack home immediately. While they waited, Hector sighed. "I've asked someone to summon him. Can you tell me what happened now? I've never had to worry about Jack until lately. That's why I let him take over Damaris Group. However, it seems he's lost his way."
Lucian looked at the old man. "Old Mr. Damaris, since we'll discuss this later, I'll not keep you in the dark. Mr. Damaris used some unknown method to render my wife comatose. The hospital is baffled, so I came looking for him!"
Hector's astonishment was palpable. He gasped, "W-What did you say?"
