Chapter 1634: He Used Essential Oil
Jack let out a cold chuckle. “Mr. Farwell's actions will determine whether I wake her up.” He shifted his gaze to Lucian, standing to the side. “Mr. Farwell, did you really think I'd yield simply because you sought my grandfather's help? Asking an old man for assistance? Since when did you become so childish?”
Hector, enraged, coughed uncontrollably. “Shut up, Jack! How dare you, when you're in the wrong!”
“Everything I do is for the Damaris family!” Jack insisted implacably.
The butler quickly assisted the collapsing Hector into the living room. Hector, feeling powerless, could only point at Jack, hoping for repentance.
Relieved by Hector's absence, Jack turned back to Lucian. “Now that it’s just us, we can finally have a proper conversation.”
Jack sat, elegantly crossing his legs.
“You said you’d consider it. Your answer, Mr. Damaris?” Lucian snapped, frowning.
Jack frowned. “Mr. Farwell, you need my help. Is that any way to ask a favor?”
Silence descended upon the garden.
Jack grinned, waiting for Lucian’s response.
After a long pause, Lucian suppressed his anger. “What do you want, Mr. Damaris? I’ll do anything to wake Roxanne.”
“See? This wouldn't have happened if you’d been humble while I was with Ms. Jarvis.” Jack chuckled coldly. “Unfortunately, it’s too late for that now. I need more time to reconsider.”
Lucian clenched his fists, striving for calm. “Of course. You hold all the cards. There is one thing I don't understand.”
Jack raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
“When did you poison Roxanne?” Lucian asked, his gaze unwavering.
Jack let out a disdainful snicker. “You underestimate me, Mr. Farwell. I'm the Damaris heir. Lowly poisoning is beneath me. I used something far more sophisticated!”
Lucian gritted his teeth, awaiting the answer.
“Essential oil. By gradually increasing the dosage, Ms. Jarvis absorbed the required amount over time. That’s how I achieved the desired effect,” Jack explained nonchalantly.
Dissatisfied with Lucian’s silence, Jack continued, “To be honest, except for that one time you were present, I burned the essential oil whenever I dealt with Ms. Jarvis. She didn't notice; she assumed it was a family habit.”
Recalling Roxanne's naivete, Jack laughed.
This was Lucian's breaking point. He could no longer restrain himself, seeing Jack mocking Roxanne after what he’d done.
