Chapter 1633: Powerless
Jack was interrupted mid-sentence when Hector struck him with his cane, shouting, โYou bastard!โ
Jackโs eyes were icy as he turned to his grandfather. โGrandpa, are you siding with an outsider?โ
Hector had hoped Jack was innocent. Heโd watched him grow up and believed his grandson incapable of such heartlessness. Even after Lucianโs accusations, Hector clung to that belief. But Jackโs taunting of Lucian shattered that hope. Though Jackโs words were carefully chosen, his attitude revealed his guilt. Hector saw through the carefully constructed faรงade, feeling profoundly disappointed. To think his grandson, nurtured since childhood, would commit such a terrible act behind his backโฆ The sudden realization overwhelmed him.
After hearing Jack threaten Lucian, Hector snapped. He struck Jack again with his cane. โIโm on the side of justice! What have you done to Dr. Jarvis? Have you forgotten what I taught you? Medical knowledge is for saving lives, not harming them! How could you do something so horrible? Iโm disappointed in you!โ he roared.
Jack, furious at having his victory over Lucian snatched away, retorted, โThis is between us young people. You should stay out of it. Besides, itโs hot. Iโll have the butler bring you indoors,โ summoning the butler.
The gardenโs atmosphere crackled with tension, a battlefield without the gunfire. The summoned butler, uncertain who to obey, anxiously watched the two men.
Hector slammed his cane to the ground. โWhy are you here? Iโm perfectly fine! Heโs not in charge of this household!โ
The butler, shuddering, retreated. As the tension escalated, Lucian observed with an impassive expression.
Old Mr. Damaris was unaware of Jackโs actions. Now informed, he would undoubtedly intervene and force Jack to save Roxanne.
โWell? Talk! What have you done to Dr. Jarvis? Mr. Farwell says sheโs still unconscious! What did you do?โ Hectorโs voice was hoarse. He lamented, โI canโt believe Jack would go so far as to mess with the Farwell Group! Weโre a prestigious medical family, but thatโs all we are. Weโre no match for a business empire like Farwell Group! If they decided to retaliate, weโd be helpless!โ
Jack replied impatiently, โYou should rest, Grandpa. A man your age shouldnโt worry about this. Itโs bad for your health.โ
Hector raised his cane again but didnโt strike. It was pointless. โIf you truly cared, youโd apologize to Mr. Farwell and wake Dr. Jarvis!โ
