Chapter 1650: Three Days
Jack confidently used Roxanne's life as leverage against Lucian. If Lucian wanted to save her, he would have to comply with Jack's demands. This, Jack believed, would elevate the Damaris family to rival the Farwells, fulfilling his vision for the Damaris Group. He wasn't merely relying on Lucian's influence; Jack himself possessed the power to reshape the company.
"Three days," Jack declared, extending three fingers. "I'll give you three days for a satisfactory answer. I have three requests, and you must agree to all of them." He shot a triumphant glance at Lucian, already envisioning victory.
Lucian's hands clenched into fists, his tone glacial. "And if I don't agree? What then, Mr. Damaris? Are you so sure you possess the only antidote?"
Jack laughed, then composed himself. "Of course! My poison is a blend of the Four Peculiar Poisons. No one can create the antidote! They won't even guess the herbs I used!"
He adopted a condescending tone. "I advise against pointless actions. The sheer number of herbs means those 'idiots' might use conflicting ones, leaving Ms. Jarvis's fate entirely in my hands."
Lucian pressed on. "Mr. Damaris, you poisoned Roxanne. Have you forgotten Colby's fate? Do you want to join him in jail?"
Jack scoffed. "Colby was caught because you found incriminating evidence. He had no choice but to confess. He deserved it."
Lucian's voice deepened. "Are you so certain I won't find evidence against you? Even if you refuse, someone will force your hand."
Jack remained confident. "Mr. Farwell, aren't you overconfident? Let's discuss this when you actually have evidence." He had years of experience; his poisoning techniques were unparalleled. Even his grandfather couldn't help Lucian. The essential oil was his latest creation.
Lucian's eyes darkened, witnessing Jack's confidence. He suppressed the urge to attack him.
Jack crossed his legs, leaning back, his gaze narrowed. "Three days. Or, if that's too long, one day. It's the same time you gave me to consider your offer."
Lucian met his gaze, regaining his composure. "Three days. I'll give you my answer then." Colby needed time; rash action was unacceptable.
Jack chuckled, extending his hand. "Please leave, Mr. Farwell."
Lucian, his expression impassive, rose and left the private room.
Once Lucian departed, Kevin, Jack's assistant, reported on Roxanne's condition. "Ms. Jarvis remains unconscious. Mr. Farwell consulted numerous experts, but they've found no leads."
Jack wasn't surprised. "I told you he'd have to beg me!" He feigned disappointment. "Roxanne is so ungrateful. If she'd just been with me, none of this would've happened. Such a pity."
