Chapter 1649: What Is This Attitude?
โDo you have any other requests, Mr. Damaris?โ Lucian asked when Jack remained silent.
Jack feigned confusion. โAm I that insatiable in your eyes, Mr. Farwell?โ
Lucian mirrored his tone. โAre you not? If you have no further requests, Iโll sign the transfer agreement now.โ
A brief silence filled the private room.
After a moment, Jack smiled and clapped. โAs expected of Mr. Farwell. Youโre a shrewd man. Itโs always a pleasure to conduct business with someone of your caliber.โ
Lucian remained impassive, his gaze cold. โI havenโt time to waste. Get to the point.โ
Jack ceased clapping. โI wonโt beat around the bush. I want Farwell Group and Queen Group to terminate their collaborations with the research institute. My new company will take over, signing a long-term contract to secure all future achievements.โ
He affected generosity. โOf course, Iโm not entirely greedy. My company will share half the profits from medication sales with the institute. I wonโt let their efforts go unrewarded.โ
Lucian shuddered at Jackโs smug expression, a burning desire to destroy him welling up. Yet, the thought of Roxanne forced him to suppress his rage.
โI canโt make decisions for the research institute, but I can promise that Farwell Group and Queen Group will announce contract termination tomorrow. Regarding other matters, youโll have to wait for Roxanne to wake up to discuss them with her,โ Lucian said, striving for calmness.
Jack, anticipating this, didnโt press. He sighed. โMr. Farwell, I underestimated your devotion to Ms. Jarvis. I canโt believe you acceded to my requests without hesitation.โ
He shifted his tone, his next question deliberately vague. โBut I do want to know one thing. Would you agree to anything I ask?โ
His implication was clear: he had further demands.
Lucianโs brow furrowed, his expression grim. โWhat else do you want?โ
Jack replied, โI want you to find another woman and marry her before Roxanne wakes up. Announce it publicly; ensure itโs the first thing she hears upon awakening!โ
He pressed further, goading Lucian. โAs long as you agree never to be with Roxanne, I promise to wake her up!โ
Lucianโs fury erupted, a murderous aura radiating from him.
Sensing the shift, Jack sighed. โMr. Farwell, what is this attitude? Donโt you want to save Ms. Jarvis?โ
โMr. Damaris, I advise you not to overstep,โ Lucian warned, struggling to control his anger.
Jack narrowed his eyes. โHave you not noticed, Mr. Farwell? This is my primary request. Since I canโt have Ms. Jarvis, no other man will!โ
He declared, โIn this world, Roxanne is mine alone. No other man!โ
He continued, growing increasingly enthusiastic, โThink about it, Mr. Farwell. Ms. Jarvis and I are both doctors, kindred spirits. Only we can help each other reach our full potential!โ He reveled in Lucian's anger, his helplessness fueling Jackโs exhilaration.
