Chapter 1672: Not Slept In Two Days
Colby took a long time to compose himself before nodding slowly, still stunned by the news.
Lucian averted his gaze. โI want to thank you for your words earlier. I wonโt give in, and Roxanne will get better.โ
A wave of relief washed over Colby. โShe will. I hope youโll let me know when you get married so I can wish you well.โ
Lucian inclined his head.
The men exchanged a final, silent glance. Colby watched Lucian leave before being escorted back to his cell.
With Colby's words echoing in his mind as he left the facility, Lucian gradually regained his composure. I have done everything I can. From here, it's a matter of waiting and hoping. Either the doctors will find a solution before the deadline, or I will have to yield to Jack. Until then, all I can do is be with Roxanne.
Spurred by this thought, he accelerated toward the hospital.
It was dusk when he arrived. Lucian had Cayden pick up dinner for the medical specialists. They dined together at the large conference room table.
Madilyn, still uneasy, remained by Roxanne's bedside. She stood as he entered. โHow did it go? Did you discover anything?โ
Lucian shook his head, but his expression was less pale than when heโd left. A glimmer of optimism shone in his eyes.
โNothing yet, but I believe no harm will come to Roxanne.โ
He then observed Madilynโs expression. Two days of relentless worry had taken its toll; fatigue etched lines around her eyes and brow.
โGo get some rest,โ Lucian said. โIโve had Cayden book rooms at the hotel next door. Everyone needs a good nightโs sleep.โ
Madilyn glanced at Roxanne, her brows furrowed. โIโm worried about her. Besides, I rested last night. You, on the other hand, need rest. Roxanne will be upset if she wakes up and sees you like this.โ
Lucian nodded. โIโll stay with her tonight and rest here. Youโve been working tirelessly all day and will continue tomorrow. We canโt afford any mistakes due to fatigue.โ
Madilyn finally nodded.
โIf anything unusual happens, call me. Iโll keep my phone on,โ she reminded him before leaving with the group, who continued discussing Roxanneโs condition on their way to the hotel.
โIโd heard of Dr. Jarvis when she was abroad, but only by her Ustranasion name. I thought she was around our age. Imagine my surprise learning she was Dr. Lambertโs disciple, and in her twenties!โ
โExceptional traditional medicine practitioners are becoming increasingly rare. Itโs a shame something like this happened to her.โ
โMr. Farwell hasnโt slept in two days because of Dr. Jarvis. I pity the young couple. We canโt let anything happen to her.โ
Madilynโs confidence grew as she listened to their conversation. With so many talented doctors collaborating, alongside Old Mr. Lomaxโs assistance, nothing would happen to Roxanne!
Simultaneously, a wave of gratitude washed over her. Itโs fortunate Roxanne is with Lucian. Without the Farwell familyโs resources, they wouldnโt have been able to assemble such a skilled medical team.
