Chapter 1677: Business Genius

The phone rang for almost a minute before Jack answered. "Who is this?" His voice dripped with arrogance and disdain.

Lucian responded calmly, "It's me, Lucian."

"Oh, it's you," Jack drawled, feigning surprise. "Mr. Farwell. I thought it was someone else rude enough to interrupt my work."

Lucian, ignoring the mockery, replied calmly, "It seems I called at a bad time, Mr. Damaris. If you're busy, you can call me back when you're free." He paused, but didn't hang up.

Jack, flustered by Lucian's implication that he was ending the call, exclaimed, "Wait a minute!"

Lucian raised an eyebrow; Jack's reaction was expected. "No matter how busy I am, I'll make time for you, since you called, Mr. Farwell," Jack sneered. "How can I help you? If I recall correctly, our agreed-upon time isn't for three days."

Lucian remained unperturbed. "As long as I'm willing to cooperate, any day works. I believe you wouldn't want anything to happen to Roxanne, would you?"

Most of Jack's plans revolved around Roxanne; harming her would jeopardize the research institute's potential, even if he acquired it.

Jack, growing smug, said, "You're right, Mr. Farwell. That's what I thought, too."

Lucian disregarded his arrogance. "Since we've reached an agreement, are you free tonight? Let's meet in person. Remember to bring the antidote, Mr. Damaris."

Jack chuckled. "Of course. I'd be delighted to meet you, Mr. Farwell, at your convenience."

They arranged a time and place before hanging up.

Jack, brimming with conceit, sat back in his office chair. "Business genius, huh? He's no match for me!"

Overhearing the conversation, Kevin felt a chill run down his spine. He was astounded by Mr. Damaris's callous disregard for human life, using it to leverage Mr. Farwell. It was equally distressing that Mr. Farwell yielded to the threat.

"I heard Lucian brought in specialists from all over the world to treat Roxanne, but even with his best efforts, he still needed my help," Jack said disdainfully. "Didn't I tell him I'm the only one who can save her, since I poisoned her in the first place?" He glared at Kevin. "What are you doing? Hurry, reserve a table at the restaurant!"

Kevin snapped to attention. "Yes, Mr. Damaris. I'll do it immediately!" He spun around and fled the office, closing the door firmly behind him, escaping the oppressive atmosphere. He took a deep breath before leaving to follow Jack's instructions.

After Jack dismissed Hector, chaos erupted within Damaris Group. To regain control, he employed extreme measures to restore order. He acted decisively against dissenters. Those unhappy with his actions kept their objections silent, fearing his wrath. Consequently, Jack did as he pleased within Damaris Group.

It was only five o'clock. He was scheduled for an evening meeting, but left early, taking the antidote with him, and strolled out leisurely.
