Chapter 1679: High and Mighty

After explaining the drug he'd developed, Jack cheerily asked, โ€œSo, Mr. Farwell, have you considered my third condition?โ€

Despite his initial shock, Lucian calmly met Jack's gaze. โ€œYou have my word.โ€

Jack remained unsatisfied. โ€œJust that? What about proof? Without proof, how can I be sure you aren't lying? I trust your character, but I invested considerable effort in creating this antidote. I don't want to be tricked.โ€

Lucian furrowed his brows. โ€œWhat kind of proof do you need?โ€

Jack raised an eyebrow. "A marriage certificate, of course. It's too late now; City Hall should be closed. Announcing your marriage to someone else will suffice.โ€ He gave Lucian a provocative look.

Jack knew this condition was most unacceptable to Lucian, and he eagerly anticipated witnessing Lucian's distress. He relished the thought of the powerful Farwell Group CEO suffering before him.

โ€œAll right,โ€ Lucian nodded calmly.

Surprise and displeasure flickered across Jack's face. โ€œWhat did you just say?โ€

He hadn't anticipated Lucian's reaction and was deeply disappointed. This was the moment he'd been eagerly awaiting. Why was Lucian so calm? Why wasn't he hesitating, showing any reservations about leaving Roxanne? How could he so easily agree?

A mocking grin played on Lucian's lips. โ€œIโ€™ve already considered all three conditions and made my decision before requesting this meeting. However, I carelessly neglected to obtain the necessary proof. I'll leave to attend to that immediately.โ€

He rose and left, displaying no sign of pleading and maintaining an air of superiority, as if completely in control.

Jack's face contorted in fury as he watched Lucian go.

โ€œFck! Fck him!โ€

A while later, rising to his feet in a fit of rage, he swept everything from the table to the floor. Glass shattered into hundreds of pieces with a deafening crash.

The server outside, hearing the commotion and fearing an accident, rushed in. He was met with a furious Jack. โ€œWho allowed you in? Get out!โ€

The server, trembling, nodded profusely and left. Another crash echoed from the room. Jack would have overturned the table if he could.

Lucian had asked for his help? Who did he think he was? After losing ten subsidiaries, Farwell Group was likely to suffer a significant decline, bringing Lucian down to the Damaris family's level. Yet, heโ€™d dared to approach Jack with such confidence!

Jack returned to his seat, his face flushed with anger. His fury subsided only upon remembering Lucianโ€™s impending marriage.

So what if Lucian acted high and mighty? He'd have to listen to Jack eventually. After marrying someone else, there would be no turning back. Jack would find a way to win Roxanne's heart and crush Lucian beneath his feet.
