Chapter 1680: Marry Him As Soon As Possible
At seven that evening, Lucian's car pulled up to the Farwell main residence. The house was brightly lit. He sat for a few minutes before stepping out, his footsteps echoing on the pavement. He walked from the gate to the main entrance, taking a moment to compose himself.
"Mr. Lucian," the butler greeted him. "Mr. and Mrs. Farwell are dining inside."
Lucian nodded and entered the mansion. He found Sonya and Elias at the dining table, engaged in an animated discussion. Sonya appeared unhappy, and Elias seemed unable to resolve the situation.
Spotting Lucian, Elias asked, "What brings you here? Have you eaten? Care to join us?"
Lucian nodded and took the seat opposite Sonya.
Sonya said, "You came at the right time. Your father and I were discussing Elektra. You remember her, from the Lane family? You grew up together."
Lucian recalled her; the Lane family had gone abroad several years prior.
Sonya continued, "Elektra returned a few days ago and wants to meet you. I think she's a wonderful match, far better than Roxanne. She's kind and gentleโunlike Aubree!"
Her attempt to convince Elias had created the tense atmosphere. He disagreed, interjecting, "Stop interfering in Lucian's relationship. Years have passed; Elektra may not feel the same."
Sonya huffed. "Lucian is capable! Even if Elektra doesn't have feelings now, they could develop with time! How can you be so sure she doesn't love him?"
Their argument raged on, oblivious to Lucian's presence.
"You can talk to her," Lucian interjected.
Silence fell. Both Sonya and Elias stared at him in disbelief.
"What did you say?" Elias asked, frowning and setting down his fork.
Lucian repeated, "Since you both think she's suitable, approach her. I have no objections if she's interested in becoming my wife."
He'd come to Sonya because Aubree was the only woman he'd been involved with recently. Despite agreeing to Jack's condition to marry, he'd found no suitable candidate and sought his mother's help. She disliked Roxanne and would surely find someone else. Elektra, or any other woman, was preferable to Roxanne; all he needed was a wife, and soon.
Sonya and Elias exchanged a pointed look. They couldn't believe his sudden change of heart.
Elias asked sternly, "So, you want to marry Elektra? What about Roxanne? I thought you were adamant about marrying her. And Essie?"
