Chapter 1684: Found Someone So Quickly

The two of them immediately got into the car. En route to City Hall, Elektra remained in disbelief. "Did I really just say yes? I'm marrying my childhood sweetheart, whom I haven't seen in years. This is surreal!"

Lucian, noticing her pensive state, asked, "What's on your mind?"

Elektra smiled nonchalantly. "Nothing. It feels like a dream. Besides, I didn't realize the Farwell family held such influence; even City Hall hours were adjusted for us."

"I only needed a signature," Lucian replied. "It was a simple request."

Elektra smiled and fell silent.

Half an hour later, they arrived promptly at City Hall and obtained their marriage certificates. Lucian then drove slowly towards the Damaris residence. Elektra, instead of focusing on their destination, examined her marriage certificate with curiosity.

"We're here," Lucian announced in a low voice upon their arrival.

Elektra hummed in acknowledgment, handed Lucian her certificate, and watched him pocket it. They then entered the residence.

The butler, still traumatized by a previous encounter, didn't dare stop Lucian. Fortunately, Lucian halted himself, saying, "I'm here to see Mr. Damaris. Tell him I've arrived; he'll want to see me."

The butler breathed a sigh of relief and promptly complied. He reported, "Mr. Damaris, Mr. Farwell is here. He… he brought a woman."

Jack, recently returned from a hotel and still simmering with anger, had been drinking alone. The butler's announcement brought a knowing look to his eyes. He ordered the alcohol removed and instructed, "Invite them in!"

Soon, Lucian and Elektra stood before Jack.

Jack appraised Elektra, smiling. "Excellent taste, Mr. Farwell! You've found a cultured and elegant lady in short order. Incredible!"

Elektra, sensing Jack's dangerous aura, stood warily behind Lucian.

Jack's cold snort betrayed his suspicion. "Mr. Farwell, were you secretly courting Ms. Songler's candidates while Ms. Jarvis was still… awake? Otherwise, how did you find someone so quickly? Is this lady eager to marry into the Farwell family?"

Lucian's expression hardened. "Insult me, Mr. Damaris, but not her." Stepping back, he introduced Elektra. "This is Elektra Lane, a childhood friend. The Lanes went abroad years ago; Elektra returned only a couple of days ago. She is indeed elegant and cultured, so choose your words carefully."

Lucian's introduction served as a warning. The Farwell and Lane families enjoyed a strong relationship, and the Lanes, after years abroad, had become a powerful force. While the Farwells couldn't prevent Jack from mistreating Elektra, the Lanes certainly could.
