Chapter 1688: Let Her Take the Antidote

Madilyn turned, struggling to steady her tearful voice. "It was initially hardening of the blood vessels, but the treatment has had little to no effect. Now, several blood spots have appeared..."

Lucian's eyes widened in shock and distress. He released her hand and strode into the ward. Inside, specialists surrounded Roxanne, their expressions helpless and filled with pity.

"How is she?" Lucian asked coldly.

The specialists bowed their heads, unable to answer, fearing his wrath.

Elektra, following Lucian, felt a chill at his anger. Calmly, she reminded him, "Lucian, give Ms. Jarvis the antidote."

Their attention turned to Elektra; their gazes shifted between her and Lucian, questioning her identity.

Madilyn, having entered the room, had noticed Elektra in the corridor but had been too preoccupied with Roxanne. However, hearing Elektra's familiarity with Lucian, she felt a pang of sympathy for her best friend.

"Who are you?" Madilyn asked, her eyes flashing with hostility.

Elektra, understanding the misunderstanding, smiled. "Let's address that later. The priority is administering the antidote to Ms. Jarvis."

"Antidote?" Madilyn's expression hardened, then softened into distress. If Cayden had obtained the antidote, he must have married another womanโ€”this woman, she guessed. Yet, knowing he acted to save her best friend, she remained silent, swallowing her pain.

Lucian, unnoticed, approached, holding a clear bottle. "You should do it," he said.

Madilyn, dazed, took the bottle, her heart heavy. "Mr. Farwell, are you trying to avoid suspicion?" she asked. Why else entrust this to her?

He frowned slightly. "I know little about pharmacology," he murmured. "As a doctor, you're safer."

He turned and returned to Roxanne's bedside.

Madilyn hesitated, glancing at Elektra, then at Roxanne. When Roxanne wakes up and learns thisโ€ฆ she thought. But her hesitation was fleeting. Roxanne couldn't wait. They would deal with the consequences later.

"Mr. Farwell, could you help lift her?" she asked, regaining her professional composure.

Slowly, Madilyn administered the antidote. Halfway through, Roxanne's face paled.

Madilyn stopped, her heart sinking, a conflicted look in her eyes. She's in as much pain as the other night! The poison is acting up again!

"What's happening?" Lucian, noticing the reaction, was visibly panicked, yet he held Roxanne with gentle care.
