As if sensing a pair of frosty eyes on her, Roxanne glanced around in puzzlement. She saw nothing unusual.
"What's wrong?" Larry asked, concerned, noticing the change in her expression.
Roxanne retracted her gaze and shook her head, appearing apprehensive. "It's nothing."
Despite her words, she seemed lost in thought for the rest of the meal. She knew the burning gaze she'd felt earlier wasn't imagined, but she couldn't identify its source.
Only after finishing did she reluctantly dismiss her suspicions.
Like a gentleman, Larry offered, "It's late. Let me drive you home."
Roxanne politely declined. "There's no need. I drove myself."
Larry respected her decision.
They chatted happily as they left, and he waited until she was safely in her car before driving away.
Roxanne had just fastened her seat belt and was about to start the car when someone abruptly opened the passenger-side door.
A man, exuding a chilling aura, entered.
Roxanne jolted, freezing but instinctively looking toward the passenger seat. Recognizing him, her scowl deepened. "What are you doing, Mr. Farwell?"
Lucian, expressionless, shut the door. "Nothing. My car broke down. I saw you. Please drive me home, Ms. Jarvis."
His chilling aura was palpable.
Knowing further probing would only escalate the tension, Roxanne started the engine without speaking.
The ride was silent. Lucian stared intently at her, his brows furrowed. She's so close to that guy They even met just now. The way they interacted made it seem like they're a coupleโฆ
He finally broke the silence. "That guy Is he Archie and Benny's father?"
Roxanne was stunned. I wonder how he reached that conclusion?
His frown deepened at her reaction. "Is he?"
Recovering, Roxanne replied, annoyed, "You're overthinking things."
His displeasure remained. "Then are you intending to let him become Archie and Benny's father?"
Roxanne was dumbfounded. "I'm not. I'm close to Larry, but don't make baseless assumptions, Mr. Farwell. It causes unnecessary trouble."
Lucian scrutinized her; his expression softened slightly. "In that case, consider your children and perhaps keep your distance from other men, Ms. Jarvis."
Roxanne had found him odd since he'd entered. Even his words felt uncomfortable. Hmmโฆ why does he sound sarcastic and implying something?
Her annoyance grew with his last sentence. "Mr. Farwell, what right do you have to say that? Do you think you're doing fine in that aspect?"
Lucian recognized the irony, furrowing his brows.
Roxanne stopped the car, turning to him. "Before you interfere in other people's business, mind your own, Mr. Farwell!"
"What did I do wrong?" Lucian's face darkened.
