Mission: To Remarry

After Alfred's treatment concluded, his care only required regular medication and reminders to take his pills on time. This eliminated the need for Roxanne to frequently visit the Qucon residence. With ample free time, she spent most of her days at the research institute, handling miscellaneous tasks and collaborating with other researchers.

Colby, her assistant from her previous overseas assignment, continued to assist her. They had an excellent working relationship.

One day, they left the research facility early, having made a research breakthrough.

Colby suggested, "Since we've been so busy, let's celebrate with a meal."

Roxanne glanced at her watch and apologized, "Another time. I need to pick up my children."

Colby didn't press the issue. They left the institute separately.

As Roxanne got into her car, her phone rang. It was Larry.

"What is it, Larry?"

Larry's gentle voice replied, "Are you free later? We haven't had time to meet since returning. May I have the honor of dinner, Dr. Jarvis?"

Roxanne started to use the same excuse as before, but Larry interrupted, "I've already made a reservation and am waiting for you."

She retracted her excuse. She was busy picking up her children, but Larry's insistence made refusing seem inappropriate. He had helped her significantly while she was abroad, and leaving him alone didn't feel right.

"All right. Where are you? I'll head over now."

Larry immediately provided the restaurant's name and location, seemingly anticipating her answer.

Roxanne agreed.

After hanging up, she called Catalina to pick up the children from kindergarten. She changed her route and drove to the restaurant.

Larry had been waiting for some time. He waved her over. Sitting opposite him, she apologized, "Sorry for the wait."

Larry smiled. "No worries. Did I interrupt your work?"

Overseas, Roxanne often lost track of time due to her workload, sometimes working all night.

Roxanne giggled, shaking her head. "No. I finished early today." She beckoned a waiter and said to Larry, "Let me treat you. I'm late, and I returned before you, so consider this a welcome-back dinner."

Larry readily agreed.

After ordering, they chatted about work and became engrossed in conversation.

At that moment, the restaurant manager entered, leading a group of men. Lucian, among them, occasionally tilted his head to hear the conversation. He spotted a familiar silhouette at a window table. A second glance at the two happily chatting figures darkened his expression.

Someone in the group noticed Lucian's sudden halt. "Mr. Farwell?"

Lucian's brows furrowed. He slowly looked away and followed the group into a private room.
