Chapter 1714: A Despicable Man

Roxanne, unable to visit the research institute due to Lucian's insistence, devised an alternative plan. "Ms. Xander's medical skills are excellent," Lucian suggested, knitting his brow. "Perhaps you could ask her to go in your stead. You can then instruct her by phone." He recalled Madilyn's extensive medical experience, including her recent work with Roxanne and several experts. Her skills were clearly exceptional.

Hesitation flickered across Roxanne's face. Madilyn possessed excellent medical skills, but her pharmacology knowledge was less impressive. After brief consideration, she nodded. "I'll call her now and ask her to go to the research institute. At most, I'll have her run the tests, then review the results via video call."

She immediately called Madilyn. "I was just about to visit you, Roxanne! How are you?"

Roxanne stated her purpose directly. "Go to the research institute, Madilyn. Mr. Queen will send the antidote. Please analyze its components there. A thorough analysis isn't necessary; just do what you can."

Madilyn's heart sank, though she didn't know the full story. "I'll leave immediately. Contact me if anything arises."

"Call me when you arrive at the institute," Roxanne said before hanging up. Turning to Jonathan, she instructed, "Please deliver the antidote to the research institute."

"I'll get there as fast as I can. We'll definitely develop a cure!" he assured her, grabbing the bottle.

She offered a weak smile in response. He immediately left the room and building, speeding toward the research institute. Upon arrival, he found Madilyn and Linda waiting. Roxanne had also called Linda for assistance.

"What's happening, Mr. Queen? Why are we suddenly studying the antidote's components?" Madilyn asked, taking the bottle and heading toward the laboratory.

Jonathan explained, "The antidote Jack provided yesterday lacked sufficient dosage to completely remove the poison. We need to synthesize our own to save Roxanne."

Madilyn was shocked. "What? How could Jack do that? It's vile!"

"He's a despicable man," Jonathan agreed.

Worry filled Madilyn's heart. Linda, who had only been asked to assist Madilyn, was equally stunned by the gravity of the situation. Despite her apprehension, she rallied the others. "Dr. Jarvis will be fine! She's a distinguished doctor. Even Dr. Lambert called her his most outstanding student!" Silently, she prayed for Roxanne's safety.

Once in the laboratory, Madilyn composed herself and called Roxanne.
