Chapter 1730: What Are You Here For?

Lucian hung up the phone immediately. At the hospital, Zayne was panicked and bewildered. In the laboratory, Benny and Estella sensed something was wrong. They quickly clutched Lucian's shirt and asked, "Daddy, what happened to Mommy?"

His eyes darkening, Lucian replied, "Nothing. That call was about work. Stay here with Mr. Queen. I have to go to the office."

Jonathan, Benny, and Estella were unconvinced. Jonathan, in particular, saw the worry etched on Lucian's face and his heart sank. Lucian entrusted the children to Jonathan and left the laboratory.

"Lucian!" Jonathan called after him.

Lucian walked so quickly that he reached the end of the corridor before Jonathan could catch up. Jonathan turned back to the children. "Stay here. I need to talk to your daddy." He then dashed toward the corridor's far end.

Lucian clearly heard him, but showed no sign of stopping. Desperately, Jonathan grabbed Lucian's arm. "Lucian, calm down. Now's not the time to look for Jack!"

Lucian turned, his expression grim, but his voice calm. "I'm going to the hospital to check on things. Help me keep an eye on things here. Call me if anything happens."

Jonathan relaxed his grip. If he was only going to the hospital, that meant… "Unless absolutely necessary, you mustn't look for Jack! No one knows what he's planning!" Jonathan warned anxiously.

"I know."

Jonathan finally released Lucian's arm, watching him leave the research institute before returning to reassure the children.

Lucian sped toward the hospital. Zayne's hesitant words echoed in his mind, fueling his unease. He finally arrived at the hospital entrance, slammed on the brakes, and rushed inside, leaving the car door unlocked. He moved with unsteady steps, exiting the elevator and heading toward the ward.

"Mr. Farwell," Zayne greeted him. The specialists had already eased Roxanne's pain. Zayne could only wait anxiously outside the ward.

Seeing Lucian, Zayne felt a chill in the air and shivered involuntarily. Lucian glanced at the ward, then at Zayne. "How is she?"

Zayne lowered his head, speaking cautiously, "The specialists are working on solutions. I'm not entirely sure about her—"

Before he could finish, Lucian grabbed him by the collar. "Not sure? What are you here for, then?" Lucian's aura was menacing. "Once this is over, I think you should resign!"

Zayne gasped, his legs trembling. "M-Mr. Farwell, perhaps you should check on Mrs. Farwell first… She's—"

"I don't need you to tell me that!" Lucian flung the hospital director aside and strode into the ward. The moment he entered, he calmed, as if afraid of disturbing the patient.
