Chapter 1745: Am Perfectly Fine Now
โWhereโs Jack? Tell him to come out here and explain himself!โ The crowd pressed around Kevin, demanding Jackโs whereabouts.
Kevin, struggling to support Hector, attempted to calm them. โMr. Damaris is waiting for you all at Damaris Group. Please go there while I take Old Mr. Damaris to the hospital.โ
They didnโt doubt him; Hectorโs faint made it inappropriate to obstruct the way. After Kevin left, they proceeded angrily to Damaris Group.
The Damaris familyโs century-old business had crumbled overnight. Jonathan raised an eyebrow at Lucian upon seeing the news. โWill you go see Roxanne? Sheโs been looking for you since regaining consciousness.โ
Lucian, barely satisfied with the situation, composed himself before entering her room.
The doorโs movement drew everyoneโs attention. Linda whispered, โMr. Farwell is here,โ the only one unaware of the events.
Madilyn glanced at Lucian, then at her friend, holding the three childrenโs hands and smiling. โLetโs go. Iโll take you out for some delicious food. You three must be starving after being busy all night, right?โ
The children nodded, giggling discreetly at their father. Peregrine also excused himself shortly after. Everyone discreetly left, giving the couple privacy.
Pin-drop silence filled the room as they gazed at each other. Roxanne broke the silence, worry etched on her face. โWhere were you?โ
Lucian sat beside her, solemnly scrutinizing her condition. Roxanne smiled gently. โIโm fine now. The specialists and Old Mr. Lomax examined me. Iโll fully recover with a few more daysโ rest.โ
Lucian finally relaxed. Tenderness filled his eyes. โArchie and Benny said youโre the best doctor in the world. I thought they exaggerated, but it seems they were right.โ
Roxanne laughed. โArchie said the same thing! You two are really in sync.โ
Lucian raised an eyebrow. โOur assessment is accurate. Without your exceptional skills, I might have lost the love of my life. Thank you.โ
Roxanne noticed Lucianโs increasingly direct affection, from calling her his wife to โthe love of his life.โ She blushed and lowered her head.
Fear lingered in Lucian's chest. He muttered, โItโs true. I was so close to losing youโฆโ
He reflected on their relationship: every significant encounter, including their marriage and reunion, had been initiated by Roxanne. In their life-threatening situations, she'd always fought to survive and remain by his side.
Intense guilt overwhelmed him. Seeing his silence, she looked up, bewildered. Their eyes met; Roxanne saw the turmoil in his eyes and her heart ached. Thinking he was still troubled by his worry, she caressed his face.
โDonโt be scared. Look, Iโm perfectly fine now, arenโt I?โ
