Mission: To Remarry

For the next few days, Esiella played at home with Roxanne but had no playmates at kindergarten. She watched Archie and Benny play with the other children, who completely ignored her.

Finally, she summoned her courage and ran to them. The boys exchanged a look and put on stern expressions. "What do you want?"

Estella clutched the corners of her skirt, crumpling it. Her brows furrowed as she stared solemnly at them. Parting her lips, she attempted to speak.

Archie and Benny were worried and anxious. If they hadn't known she could talk, they wouldn't be pressing her to do so now.

They were about to give up when they heard a tiny whisper: "Arch Ben"

Estella's cheeks flushed, but she only managed a syllable from each name. She hung her head despondently.

Archie and Benny were elated. They hugged her and exclaimed, "Good job, Essie!"

Estella was startled by their sudden hug. Their praise brought her back to reality, and she smiled.

After her first attempt, pronouncing their names became easier. Seeming to have overcome an obstacle, Archie said solemnly, "Mommy treats you well, and you adore her, too. Am I right? But you've never called her by name. I believe she's much more upset than Benny and I."

Estella grew flustered again. She grabbed Archie's shirt and said, "Archie!" She wanted him to teach her how to comfort Roxanne.

A cunning look flashed across Archie's eyes. He explained slowly, "You called our names, so we've forgiven you. If you can call Mommy 'Ms. Jarvis,' she'll be delighted!"

Estella nodded vigorously and spent the rest of the day at kindergarten practicing "Ms. Jarvis."

Roxanne was very busy those few days. Harvey's project was urgent and challenging. Although he'd given her details, he'd missed some crucial information. Roxanne and her team had to figure it out themselves.

This was her first time working with most of the researchers at the institute. They weren't familiar with each other, so the project fell behind schedule. Fortunately, Colby helped them catch up.

By the time the first phase was completed, Roxanne was exhausted. She glanced at her watch and realized Catalina should have picked up the children from kindergarten. Roxanne drove home to prepare dinner.

Shortly after, the mansion door opened. Footsteps and Archie and Benny's chatter followed.

"Mrs. Farwell?" Catalina was heading into the kitchen when she saw Roxanne. "Why are you back early?"

Roxanne smiled. "I finished early. Dinner's almost ready. Please help them wash their hands, and we can eat soon!"

The children ran into the kitchen and surrounded her. Benny began telling her about his day.

Roxanne's exhaustion vanished as she looked at their smiling faces.

"Miss!" An adorable voice rang out after Benny finished.

Stunned, Roxanne looked down at Estella, who stood beside her, hugging her leg and staring intently. The little girl's lips were parted. Meeting Roxanne's gaze, she repeated slowly, "Miss!"

Roxanne took a moment to regain her composure. Squatting down, she hugged the little girl and replied happily, "Yes, I'm here! That's amazing, Essie!" Tears welled up in her eyes.

After spending time with Estella, Roxanne already treated her like her own daughter. Hearing Estella try to call her "Ms. Jarvis" took her back to when Archie and Benny learned to call her "Mommy."
