Chapter 1775: Underestimate

โ€œMom, itโ€™s the truth. Whether you believe it or not, Archie and Benny are my children. They were born six years ago, along with Essie. In a strange twist of fate, Roxanne thought Essie had died prematurely. I suppose the person assigned to bring Essie back was Grandpa's subordinate. He certainly didn't expect Roxanne to have given birth to three children and taken the two boys away with her.โ€

The truth could sometimes be so absurd. Nevertheless, Colby's revelation, Roxanne's admission, and the instinctive affection between him, Archie, and Benny led Lucian to believe it. Sonya, however, would never believe it.

She raised her voice, saying sternly, โ€œLucian, you canโ€™t blindly trust everything Roxanne tells you. Is this a new story? It's not enough that she made those boys your godchildren; now sheโ€™s trying to convince you they are your biological sons? That woman is a master storyteller!โ€

Even her expression toward Lucian had changed. She wondered if Roxanne had drugged Lucian. Roxanne possessed impressive medical skills; concocting a mind-altering drug wouldn't be difficult for her.

โ€œNo, thatโ€™s not it. Mom, I know this is hard to believe, but itโ€™s the truth.โ€ Lucian didnโ€™t expect to clarify everything at once.

โ€œLucian, think this through. Roxanne is a scheming woman. Why isnโ€™t being their godmother enough? Is she trying to deceive you into believing they are your biological sons so they can inherit the Farwell family fortune?โ€

Sonya disliked Roxanne. Lucianโ€™s words only fueled her suspicions; she saw it as Roxanne's plot.

โ€œShe must be seeking revenge for our family abandoning her six years ago. I canโ€™t believe how frightening a vengeful woman can be!โ€

Muttering to herself, Sonya desperately tried to convey her thoughts to Lucian. Lucianโ€™s expression darkened. Poker-faced, he narrowed his eyes, gritted his teeth, then unclenched his jaw.

โ€œMom, just stop. Do you think Iโ€™m a fool? And donโ€™t judge Roxanne in front of me again. I understand her character,โ€ he said firmly.

Lucian lost his patience and wanted no further interaction. Sonya refused to let it go. Noticing him leaving, she grabbed him. Sorrow and anguish filled her voice. โ€œLucian, you mustn't believe everything Roxanne says!โ€

Ignoring her, he gave her an impassive glance, shook off her hand, and strode past.

Sonya lost her temper. โ€œYouโ€™re formidable, Roxanne Jarvis! I underestimated you! Sheโ€™s manipulative. I canโ€™t allow this. How can someone like her become part of the Farwell family?โ€

Rage burned within her, causing discomfort as she mumbled, โ€œWhat should I do? How can I get rid of Roxanne? Thereโ€™s no way those two are Farwell descendants. They lack the proper temperament. Why would Lucian believe theyโ€™re his kids?โ€

Sonya was furious; she felt she might have a heart attack. She quickly went to the table, picked up a glass of water, and took a sip.

Her worried demeanor startled Elektra, who had arrived unexpectedly. Carrying numerous bags, Elektra entered, greeting, โ€œMrs. Farwell.โ€
