Chapter 1776: Missed Opportunity

Elektra placed her bags down and hurried to Sonya. Taking Sonya's hands, she asked with concern, “Mrs. Farwell, why do you look so pale? Are you feeling unwell?”

Sonya, though angry enough to make her palms sweat, felt reassured by Elektra's touch. She forced a smile. “I'm fine. Why so many gifts?”

“Are you sure? Please, sit down. Have some water. Do you need to go to the hospital?” Elektra's concern was evident as she helped Sonya sit.

Sonya shook her head. “I'm truly fine. You shouldn't bring gifts.”

“I visited Ms. Jarvis this morning. She’s recently recovered, so I bought her some supplements. Naturally, I thought of getting you an even better set.” Elektra, though outwardly calm and gentle, was calculating. Mentioning Roxanne's supplements first would have been unwise.

Sonya understood, offering a small smile, which quickly faded. “What kind of supplements did you give her? You barely know each other! If you hadn't had that sham marriage with Lucian, she wouldn't have the antidote, might not even be alive!”

Elektra remained composed. “It was a fake marriage certificate. Not a great sacrifice. I did nothing extraordinary to deserve credit.” She knew Sonya and Roxanne’s dislike for one another ran deep, likely prompting Aubree’s excessive actions—actions Sonya had supported. However, Elektra wouldn’t make the same mistake.

“Of course it was a big deal! Your reputation was at stake! Your father nearly announced the marriage publicly. That would have devastated you. Why sacrifice yourself for her?”

Elektra listened patiently, even brewing Sonya a cup of coffee. Sonya, feeling calmer, asked seriously, “Tell me honestly. How do you feel about Lucian?”

Elektra, momentarily stunned, quickly recovered. “Well, Mrs. Farwell, Lucian and Ms. Jarvis have a wonderful relationship. And three children! How could you even ask?”

“Three children? Besides Essie, how are the others considered Farwell family?” Sonya retorted coldly.

Elektra, unsurprised by the response, feigned sorrow. “I do have feelings for Lucian. We grew up together. But I lost my chance when I went to Epea. Besides, Ms. Pearson was his fiancée then.”

Sonya shook her head, gripping Elektra's hands. “What do you mean, lost your chance? He hasn't remarried Roxanne. You still have a chance!”

“But they have three children! My feelings are probably just because he's a childhood friend. I wouldn't want to ruin his happiness, so please don't bring this up again.” Elektra played her part perfectly, outwardly rejecting Sonya’s suggestion.
