Chapter 1783: The Damaris Family Is No More

โ€œIโ€™ll be frank, Mr. Damaris. Jackโ€™s situation is dire. The evidence against him is overwhelming, and even if you compensated all the victimsโ€™ families, the prosecution will fight this aggressively. At best, he faces ten to fifteen years; at worst, life imprisonment. Heโ€™ll be in his forties at the earliest release.โ€

Allen maintained a neutral tone, suppressing his personal feelings. If it weren't Hector, he might have indulged in some harsh words. Jack Damaris was a monster, a doctor driven by greed to commit heinous acts.

Though Hector had braced himself, the news devastated him. He swayed, his vision blurring. Allen quickly steadied the elderly man. โ€œMr. Damaris, are you alright? Please calm down. Youโ€™re a patient yourself; you need to control your emotions. This is why I hesitated to meet.โ€

After several deep breaths, Hectorโ€™s despair lessened, yet he appeared years older, his face pale and drawn. โ€œDoomed! The Damaris family is finished! Jackโ€™s life is ruined!โ€ His voice trembled. โ€œWhy was he so stubborn? Jack, how could you destroy the Damaris name?โ€ Tears streamed down his face.

Allen felt pity for the manโ€™s anguish. What a terrible grandson! The Damaris family possessed wealth, power, and prestige. What more could Jack have wanted?

โ€œDonโ€™t despair, Mr. Damaris. The Damaris familyโ€™s foundation is strong. Youโ€™re a renowned figure in medicine; your legacy will endure. As long as Jack lives, thereโ€™s hope for redemption.โ€

Allen offered every ounce of encouragement, fearing further deterioration of Hectorโ€™s health.

โ€œNo,โ€ Hector sighed, defeated. โ€œThe Damaris family doesn't need to regain its glory. This incident has irrevocably tarnished our name. From today, there will be no Damaris family in medicine.โ€ His eyes filled with desolation.

โ€œThank you, Mr. Caldwell. Iโ€™ll pay the consultation fee after settling the hospital bill. I am deeply ashamed.โ€ Hector stood, his legs unsteady, and nodded his gratitude.

Allen waved his hands. โ€œThereโ€™s no need, Mr. Damaris. Use it for your medical bills. Youโ€™ve saved countless lives. Iโ€™m distressed to see you like this. If you face financial difficulties, please seek me out. Your grandsonโ€™s actions don't negate your noble accomplishments.โ€

Allen helped Hector leave the firm. Waiting outside was someone Hector dreaded encountering: Roxanne. She had been waiting for some time.
