Chapter 1784: Between the Medics

Hector recoiled, averting his gaze when he saw Roxanne. Noticing his distress, Roxanne proactively approached, taking the IV stand from Allen and observing the nearly depleted drip.

"You are...?" Allen was surprised by her intervention.

"I'm a friend of the Damaris family. You can leave Mr. Damaris to me," Roxanne replied with a reassuring nod.

Allen, seeing he could do nothing more for Hector, nodded, loosened his grip, and reminded Hector to take care of himself before returning to the law firm.

Meanwhile, Hector, consumed by guilt, could barely meet Roxanne's gaze. "Ms. Jarvis," he began, his voice choked with emotion, "Jack wronged you. He nearly took your life, and you've suffered greatly. He deserves punishment. I'm sorry I can do so little to compensate you." His sincerity was evident.

Seeing Hector's dejection, Roxanne felt sympathy. Stepping forward, she offered support. "I won't forgive Jack," she said, shaking her head, "but this has nothing to do with you, Mr. Damaris. I came because I know you've had a relapse. I'm worried about the hospital bills, so I brought some medicine. Please accept this."

Hector was speechless, his gaze widening in stunned surprise, his hands trembling. "Iโ€”I can't accept it. A member of my family almost killed you, Ms. Jarvis! Weโ€™ve done terrible things. Why repay enmity with kindness?" Tears welled in his eyes.

"Mr. Damaris," Roxanne said gently, supporting him as they walked, "you've made significant contributions to our country's medical field, saving countless lives. You've dedicated your life to medicine, asking nothing in return. My actions are not about the Damaris family. I'm simply expressing gratitude to a senior colleague." Once the IV was empty, she expertly removed the needle.

Hector fell silent, gazing into the distance. "Mr. Damaris," Roxanne continued, "I assume the police have frozen your family's assets. I've prepared some money for your future treatment. Please accept it." She produced a bank card. "The password is 123456. Remember it."

Hector immediately waved his hand, refusing. "No, no! I can't accept your money. The medicine is enough. I can't possibly accept this."

Roxanne sighed, understanding his reluctance. "Regardless," she said persuasively, "you are my senior. My mentor spoke of your good deeds and asked me to help you if needed. This isn't charity; it's following my mentor's wishes. Accept this as a token between fellow medics."

Her words moved Hector. He slowly took the card, eliciting a relieved smile from Roxanne.
