Chapter 1796: Scared Out of His Wits
Shortly after, the boy felt an itching sensation all over his body. He fell to the ground, rolling uncontrollably. "Dad, Dad! What's happening? I'm so itchy! It's horrible! It feels like thousands of ants are biting me! Dad, help me!" The child cried in fear. Felix, however, dared not speak. Instead, he knelt and pleaded, "It's my fault! My son and I know we've done wrong. We offended someone we shouldn't have! Please spare us. I have twenty thousandโplease take itโ"
The group's leader scoffed and kicked Felix. "Do you think we're beggars? Twenty thousand isn't enough for all of us! Stop begging. There's a pit over thereโit's for you and your son!"
The mention of a pit weakened Felix. He ignored his son's discomfort as despair overwhelmed him. Pit? Do they intend to bury us alive? He finally understood Lucian's true nature.
The leader gave the order, and his men dragged Felix and his son to the pit, about two meters deep. The ladder they'd used earlier remained. "Do you want to go down yourselves, or should we push you?" the leader asked coldly.
Terror rendered Felix speechless. Father and son descended into the pit. Felix braced himself for burial, but the leader scoffed. "Just wait. Tomorrow night, woodcutters will be here. That's your chance to escape. Remember this lesson!"
Felix was stunned. So, they don't intend to kill us! The relief of survival was immense; he collapsed. To say he was scared out of his wits was an understatement. His son continued to roll and cry. "Dad, I'm so uncomfortable! Help me! Why am I so itchy? It won't stop!"
"The itch will last about three days," the leader sneered. "Make sure he doesn't tear his skin from scratching!" He then left with his men.
Meanwhile, at the hotel, Lucian received a call from Cayden. "Mr. Farwell, it's done. We taught them a lesson!" Cayden had delegated the task.
Lucian nodded. "All right. Come to the hotel and take the children home."
Cayden asked, "Linda gave me some powder. Was that your instruction, Mr. Farwell?"
Lucian was confused. Roxanne, listening, chuckled. "I told Linda to give it to Cayden!"
"Oh, okay. Just use it," Lucian replied before hanging up. With Roxanne's fury, that powder must have a terrible effect. I bet it's for that fat kid.
Soon, Lucian received a video showing Felix and his son. Roxanne felt a surge of satisfaction hearing the boy's cries. Essie nearly died. This punishment is nothing compared to that!
