Chapter 1800: Too Impatient

When Lucian heard her straightforward reply, he considered it deeply. Worried she might be angry, he explained, "I don't think it's necessary, but my mother is exceptionally stubborn. You can choose not to do the test if you find it offensive." He looked like a frightened child who had made a mistake, causing Roxanne to smile.

"It's nothing," she replied. "I just need to collect hair samples for a test. It doesn't harm the children, so I have no reason to object. Besides, objecting would only make me appear guilty." It wasn't the time to be concerned about appearances. Returning Archie and Benny to the Farwell family wasn't simply about reuniting them with their father; it was about securing their rightful inheritance. Though Roxanne had no interest in money, she was determined to fight for her children's rights. The Farwell family was enormous; a paternity test provided the best way to quell their doubts.

After agreeing to Lucian's request, Roxanne went downstairs and observed the children. Conveniently, their hair was long. She instructed the butler to summon a hairdresser for trims, and to save some of the clippings for the test. Soon, the boys each placed their hair in a labeled container and gave it to Roxanne.

Refreshed by their haircuts, Estella also desired a similar style. It took considerable coaxing from the hairdresser to dissuade her.

When Roxanne handed the containers to Lucian, he watched her cautiously. Seeing she wasn't angry, he collected some of his own hair.

"Ah... I'm getting old," Lucian worriedly remarked. "My hair is falling out already. Do you think I'll go bald?"

Roxanne chuckled, gently tugging his hair. "You'll be fine," she assured him. "Hair falls out and grows back naturally. If you're truly worried, we can test a couple of strands at the lab." His worried look disappeared when he realized she was serious. He gave her two strands of hair. Roxanne carefully preserved them in tissue for testing at the research institute.

Cayden soon delivered the samples to the Farwell main residence. Sonya was surprised by Lucian's swift action. She immediately contacted a medical testing company owned by the Farwell Group to arrange the paternity tests.

Meanwhile, Elias silently smoked cigarettes. "You're too impatient," he finally said. "Even without your prompting, Lucian would have done this. You're only upsetting him." Sonya's anger was barely contained.

"The test was going to happen sooner or later," she retorted. "So what if I'm the 'evil mother-in-law'? Roxanne doesn't even respect us as elders. She's moved in with Lucian but hasn't visited us. It's clear she doesn't respect us."

Elias sighed. "She's only been here a few days. She might be unsure. Besides, we were the ones who wronged her."
