Chapter 1825: Not Enough

A while later, Jonathan arrived at the Farwell residence. He had come in haste, believing something urgent had occurred. However, Lucian was calmly drinking tea in the living room, even inviting Jonathan to join him. After a brief discussion about medicinal herb supplies, Lucian inquired about Jonathan's health.

โ€œIโ€™m in good health,โ€ Jonathan replied. โ€œAnd being in the medicinal herb business, weโ€™re quite attentive to our health. Whatโ€™s on your mind, Lucian?โ€

Lucianโ€™s interest was evident. โ€œIโ€™m not suggesting thereโ€™s a problem, but youโ€™ve been working tirelessly for the family business. Shouldnโ€™t you have a proper checkup?โ€

Jonathan readily agreed. โ€œIn that case, I will.โ€

โ€œGood. Iโ€™ve already scheduled an appointment for you at Roxanneโ€™s hospital,โ€ Lucian said, relieved that Jonathan didnโ€™t seem suspicious.

Jonathan nodded. โ€œTomorrow is fine. Iโ€™ll go in the morning.โ€

Lucian nodded, but wondered how Madilyn would handle Jonathanโ€™s straightforward nature.

โ€œBy the way, Lucian,โ€ Jonathan continued, โ€œIโ€™ve noticed some issues with our overseas clients. Complaints are rising, and some are requesting lower prices. Iโ€™ll investigate further.โ€

Jonathan, a workaholic, immediately returned to business. Lucianโ€™s expression changed subtly. โ€œYou donโ€™t need to. Itโ€™s Shawn; heโ€™s trying to poach our clients. Letโ€™s not alert him to our awareness and let him enjoy his perceived success for now. We have more than enough clients. Since these aren't interested in being market leaders, let's replace them. Weโ€™ll wait until they breach the contract.โ€

Jonathan nodded, even more impressed by Lucian's foresight. He realized he lacked Lucianโ€™s sharp perception and strategic thinking; Lucian had already identified and formulated a plan to address the problem before Jonathan even fully grasped it. Perhaps this is what defined a strategist.

They continued chatting. Jonathan still felt guilty about his sister's betrayal, but Lucian remained unfazed. When Roxanne came downstairs after putting the children to bed, Jonathan rose and took his leave.

โ€œHow did it go? Did he agree?โ€ Roxanne asked Lucian.

A smile played on Lucianโ€™s lips. โ€œHeโ€™ll have the checkup tomorrow. I think it would be interesting if they ended up in a relationship.โ€

โ€œYes, Iโ€™d like to see that too. It would be far better than mineโ€”it wouldn't be bittersweet,โ€ Roxanne sighed, then glared at Lucian.

Lucian shuddered. Heโ€™d been anticipating the unfolding drama, but it seemed he'd inadvertently shot himself in the foot. He quickly dropped the smile, adopting a solemn expression. Pulling Roxanne close, he said, โ€œOf course, of course. Youโ€™re right. I havenโ€™t treated you well, soโ€ฆโ€

โ€œSo what?โ€ Roxanne frowned, then froze as Lucian knelt.

Lucian produced a black velvet box from his pocket and slowly opened it. His gaze was entirely focused on her.

Roxanne was stunned, her heart pounding.
