Chapter 1839: An Accident

Roxanne ate two bowls of soup but struggled to finish the second. Nevertheless, she persevered and emptied both bowls. Sonya, returning after tidying the study, was pleased to see this.

“Mrs. Farwell, your soup is truly delicious,” Roxanne complimented, making Sonya blush slightly.

Suddenly, Roxanne's lower abdomen ached again, prompting her to retire upstairs to rest.

“If you like it, I can make more later. You can have it for lunch or dinner,” Sonya offered.

Roxanne, unwilling to refuse Sonya’s kindness, quickly changed the subject. “Mrs. Farwell, this soup is so good! Why don't you send some to Lucian? He's been working very hard lately and hasn't had time for proper meals.”

Sonya agreed and began preparing more soup while Roxanne rested.

Over an hour later, Roxanne was dozing when Sonya softly knocked. “Roxanne, Roxanne…” she whispered.

“Mrs. Farwell, what is it?” Roxanne asked.

“My car has broken down,” Sonya explained. “I’ve called a mechanic, but the soup is ready, and I wanted to take it to Lucian while it’s still hot. His garage cars are either too uncomfortable or too large for me to drive. Could I borrow your car for a short while?”

Roxanne considered it a minor request, knowing the keys were in the hallway. Still, she replied politely, “Certainly. The keys are in the hallway. Please drive carefully, Mrs. Farwell.”

Sonya nodded and left. Downstairs, she retrieved the keys.

The butler offered to send a driver, but Sonya refused. “I want to do this myself. It only feels right if I deliver it personally. If you do everything for me, what kind of mother am I?”

The butler, unable to dissuade her, simply urged her to drive slowly.

Half an hour later…

A news bulletin interrupted: “Attention drivers! A serious accident on the second ring road has caused a major traffic jam. A vehicle collided with a guardrail, blocking two lanes. Police and emergency services are on the scene. The impact deployed all airbags, and the female driver is unconscious. However, Good Samaritans are assisting…”

When Lucian received the hospital’s call about his mother’s accident, he froze. “Is she alright? I’m Lucian Farwell of the Farwell Group. Please treat my mother immediately! I’m on my way!”

He anxiously awaited their response.

“She’s unconscious from head trauma, but her vital signs are stable. There are no other injuries or fractures. Please rest assured, Mr. Farwell. We’ll do everything we can.” The doctor’s tone grew more serious upon hearing Lucian’s name.

Relieved, Lucian instructed Cayden to prepare the car. He then used the private elevator to inform his father.

Elias panicked at the news. Lucian quickly relayed the doctor’s report.

“Lucian, I’m going to the hospital. You’re closer; hurry as well. How could this happen? She was just showing off about making soup for you before she left!”
